Best Family-Friendly Pizza Restaurant on Upper West Side! Dean's Pizzeria is our neighborhood favorite. It's the ideal spot for families with kids because it's huge and can handle larger groups. You don't need to worry about the noise. It's loud anyway so if your kid is crying, you don't have to get paranoid. We love the pizzas. They're not greasy, no too cheesy-- you actually feel healthy eating a slice. Grandma's Pizza is our favorite. It's old-fashioned square pizza and guaranteed to fill you up. But, there's a slew of other menu items outside of the pies. From pastas to family-sized salads to and meat dishes to awesome sides like our fave, garlic broccoli, there's something for everyone. Best part, often times you can just walk in without a reservation. The service is friendly and accommodating. We've never left hungry or dissatisfied. But, don't forget, this restaurant I'd family-friendly. If you are looking for an intimate quiet place to eat, you won't find that at Dean's. Get ready for large parties, strollers and birthday celebrations.

Ali Baba has turned into a neighbors favorite for my fiancé and I did to their consistently great service, friendly staff, and of course, reasonably price delicious food. While this isn't saying much, Ali Baba is, by far, the best restaurant in Murray Hill. Some other notes: - expect to spend ~$25pp for a split appetizer + main course - good for parents - in terms of ambiance, it's not a "cool place", so second thoughts on a first date of you're looking for a scene - you can make reservations, though the line is never over 10 minutes - ask to be seated in te back to avoid foot traffic from the front door Recommendations: hummus, the Mediterranean salad, the kebabs, and the pide. I'm sure other dishes are good as well, just, we're creatures of habit and have stuck to a combination of those dishes.
Well for starters when i walked in the first thing i overheard heard was another table talking about how they've had pizza from all over America and this was by far the best, so i know i was in for a treat. So i took a seat with my girlfriend and i asked the waiter (James) what his favorite style pizza was, and he simply replyed the plain pie is outstanding, he didnt try to sell toppings or anything which astonished me but he did say that the margarita pie ( fresh mozz n basil) is pretty good aswell. so when the plain pie came and i took the first bite i was in pizza heaven it was diffenently the best pizza we had ever eaten, and make things even more attractive our meal which did feel us both up and a few sodas was under 20 bucks chaching.
went to Manhattan on buisiness and found this small place. must have been my lucky day. If you are looking for authentic Italian food, this is the place. Everyone from the waiters to the cook are right off the boat Italian.Even the mascot Maximo (the roman mastiff) will be there to greet you will a friendy CIAO! Very nice atmosphere, great food, i had the antipasto italiano and lasagna and it was to die for. The owner, from Rome, is also very friendly and came personaly to our table to chat with us and make sure everything was OK. I felt so welcomed and at home, and needless to say I will be going back again everytime I get to New York.......thank you Carbone see u soon PS. this restuaraunt is authentic Italian staffed
My husband and I stumbled upon this place while visiting NYC. We are thrilled that we did. The food was excellent and the service was even better. Our waiter, Walter, made us feel very welcome - by far the best service we received at any restaurant in the city. I can't remember the name of my entree, but it was a chicken dish stuffed with prosciutto and mozzarella covered in a marsala sauce. The cannolis were fantastic! I highly recommend this place (right down the street from the more well-known Patsy's). Our bill was about $57 and that included our meals, wine and dessert. We're looking forward to returning in the future!
I love NY pizza. What makes a really good NY slice is tasty, crispy, well done crust and sauce that is not over powering. The sauce is easier to create but way too often the crust has no flavor. This place has perfected it and the staff is really friendly. I knew the pizza had to be good when walking by this place it was packed and had a huge contingent (40+) of NYC Police Academy members all indulging in the pizza. This is the best NY pizza I have tasted. I highly recommend the medium sausage pie. I tried really hard to finish as the taste was awesome but I couldn't do it. Go, you will be glad you did.
I do t give 5-stars normally, so this is an exception and with it being out of town for me even more rare. The waiter bumped my beer placing the appetizer on the table, not much was spilled really although it did get on my hand a little, and the dude just bought me a full replacement. I was fine with his apology really, but that was classy. The apple/nut crostini appetizer was delicious: the meatballs pizza was equally delicious, the cheesecake with a scoop of Vanilla and scoop or Strawberry ice cream was also delicious. I really like this place.
I consider myself a pizza expert, because I basically eat it everyday. Rocky's II in Murray Hill is probably the place to get slices. The pasta dishes, particularly the baked ziti, are also excellent. Don't miss out on the garlic knots, and the chicken parm sandwiches. The service is great, and the place was remodeled so eating at this spot is a good idea. I've no problems with delivery, but I usually eat there, because the place is right next to a couple cool bars. Overall, I highly recommend Rocky's II.
Love this place. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur, and the slices here are damn good. I go to this place a lot, because the prices are very reasonable, and in Manhattan they find a way to make things far more expensive than they need to be. Aside from pizza, their chicken parm is awesome, and so are their calzones. The service is excellent... the staff is super-nice. Give this place a shot if you're in the Murray Hill area or if you just want to get authentic NY slices and pasta.
The title says it all. Generous amount of bufala mozzerella, loaded with pepperonis, coal fired oven, absolutely perfect sauce, it doesnt get better. I've been to several of the highly rated/famous pizzerias in new york, and this one easily stood out as the hands down winner. People love to praise places like Lombardis, why I don't know. Maybe because its the oldest one? It has an image? Well maybe at one point it was the best but it didn't come close to Totonnos.
