Busy Mexican restaurant with good Americanized Mexican food and strong margaritas, so be careful if your are driving. The salsa and chips are perfect to enjoy with margaritas. I had the beef taco and enchilada combo which was great. It's a big rambling Mexican style building with downstairs and upstairs dining areas, a bar, and a courtyard with tables in front. This location is newer and doesn't have the charm and atmosphere of the original in Los Angeles, but it has the same wonderful food. Upstairs seating is a bit quieter but overall pretty noisy. The decor inside was rustic and a good setting for the meal. Service was great as well. I'd definitely 100% go again...
They offer authentic tasting burritos with your choice of meat. The basic burrito comes with beans, rice, onions, cilantro, and meat. For a little extra you can get the Super with guacamole, cheese, sour cream, and lettuce. I recommend the Super because the basic can be a little dry but are still good -- depends on what you're in the mood for. Burritos come with chips and your choice of red or green salsa. Make sure you can handle a hot sauce because these aren't for the mild at heart.
My favorite Mexican restaurant in L.A. When we lived on the West Side, we went here at least once a week (often two times a week). There's almost always a wait to get a table at dinner time, and with good reason --- locals all know this place is just that good. The employees there are like family. Just hit up an ATM before you go; they only take cash!
The food is outstanding! Better yet, I never feel sick and bloated after eating here! My favorite is the simple Carne Asada burrito. It's stuffed with meat, beans and rice. Love the salsa as well. Don't forget to get a container of the marinated carrots and onions as well! This is definitely the perfect place to satisfy those late night munchies!
What a wonderful place to have brunch by the sea! Located at the very end of the pier. Sat out on the lovely patio with great views of the ocean. Fantastic Bloody Mary! Daughter had the lobster and got to pick it from the tank and photo ops. Great staff that makes the experience for them great!
I love Holy Guacamole. Granted, not the greatest atmosphere so I wouldn't celebrate there, but if you want great Cal-Mex, it is so good. My favorite thing is the veggie tamale. They give you so much sauce and it's delicious with their house made chips and guac!
I've been coming to Casa Escobar Santa Monica for years, and I have never been disappointed! The margaritas are definately NOT for light-weights so consider yourselves warned. The food portions are generous and delicious.
Great spot for day drinking and bringing back the nostalgic feel of a college party! The happy hour has some good deals and the special events that occur ocasionally here are usually pretty crowded.
This is standard Mexican fare which is prepared in authentic Mexcian tradition. It is very affordable. The atompshere is like a Burger King, so don't go for the atmosphere. Just good food!
I usually come here for their breakfast burrito. It's reasonably priced and always fresh. It's also one of the few places around to get a breakfast burrito without breaking the bank.
