THEY SERIOUSLY TRASH YOUR CAR AND THEN LET YOU WHISTLE FOR DAMAGES. That’s what happened to me when I took my car to Tower on Dec. 4 of last year. After 45 min. I asked where it was, and the manager Jorge Villatoro appeared and took me to a corner of the lot where the car was sitting. The door was bashed in in a way that could only have happened if one of the machines tore at it — i learned later that it had been ripped off one of hinges and the bar inside it was bent, so that the door would have to be replaced. Jorge gave me a form to fill out; he didn’t apologize but offered to give me the names of some body shops who could do the work. I demurred and took it to my own guy, then sent him the estimate, which came to over $3000. A week later he replied that he was on it, but after that didn’t reply to my repeated calls or emails. There’s no logical reason why Tower should stonewall--I’ll wind up taking it to my insurer who will go after them for the costs. But a search of the review sites and Better Business Bureau shows that Tower has made a business model of damaging cars and refusing to pay — and in fact the same is true of the other car washes owned by Igor Paskhover in the LA area. But then I guess that all in a day’s work for of an operator who was sued by the SF City Attorney for underpaying its workers and violating employment laws (see "City Says Dirty Business at Tower Car Wash” at Missionlocal dot org). I can’t imagine why anybody would trust their car to these people.

For 20 some bucks you get a decent wash, and they vacuum and wash windows. But they aren't very detailed inside. You'll find some remaining crumbs in the nooks and crannies. If you want a spotless job, spring for a detailing or do it yourself.
