I and my son visited Cheesecake for a birthday dinner. The server, Justin, started off great, Then ended great of course, tip time! Yet, in the middle was non-existent and I had to ask for a drink refill and more bread. We both have a few favorites there and we ordered the pasta ones that we love. The little bit of sauce in the pasta was watery and my sons "crispy" chicken wasn't crispy like it's been the last 5 or 6 times we've been. Justin didn't even bring us menus for cheesecake, just asked us if we wanted any while he was walking away from the table. I ordered food to go for my daughter and asked for bread for her pasta and it was HARD AS A ROCK!!! Literally....I couldn't break it apart with my hands. It had to be sitting out for a week and a server who cared and knew something about food would have noticed how hard the bread was. That's not even the worst part. I call to talk to the manager, Christian, who's also rude. Tells me that he's sorry the bread wasn't up to snuff. WTH. He was belittling and told me that he could bring me some new bread but it's kind of late. As I was explaining the situation never once did he apologize. I've been going here for years, and the service and food just keeps going downhill....but we keep trying because sometimes we'll get lucky. We celebrate several birthdays here every year...almost a tradition. Well .... that ended today. I try to be polite to the staff and don't ask for much. Leave at least a 20% tip. It's not enough that you wait almost 2 hours to have dinner ( I have no problem waiting because I know what to expect) .... then to receive such poor treatment from the server and manager...they will not get another dime from me.
My husband and I often meet our daughter at this Elmer's on Sunday afternoons. We like this restaurant because there is something for everyone on the menu. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. We especially LOVE their German Pancakes (they are to die for!) . The decor is a bit outdated, but we don't go there for the ambience. We go there to eat and to visit. Plenty of parking. Fair prices for good food. No complaints here.
Came in late by myself and was seated right away as they were not very busy. I flipped through the menu for awhile, picked something then set my menu down. It took about 20 minutes for a server to even talk to me, the majority of that with my menu down, ready to order. When I finally got to place my order and he asked if I'd like bread while I wait and I said yes, brown bread only please. He said he likes his the same and soon I was brought a basket of bread... With white and brown bread. I finished my incredibly tiny portion of brown bread and my water sat empty for ages without being asked if I need either refilled. I sat there watching as couples and groups seem to be getting plenty of service in a timely manor... Apparently my dinning alone with an order of a $22.5 single dish didn't warrant similar attention. It was a very unhappy experience. I went out to treat myself to something nice and instead spent the better part of my first hour there all but ignored.Added to that, my fork had old food crusted to it and my mashed potatoes had many large hard chunks of under cooked potato in them. See my photos for an example of one of the bigger chunks I pulled out of them.
Don't ask to use their restrooms. Very unfriendly to visitors. Seems foolhardy when you might have dinner with them and spend $$$.
Horrible experience at this place. Terrible service and management. They need to fire at least one of the food handlers asap to protect their customers. We'll never go back.
The reviews are old. The food and service were standard (good) like all the Shari's in the local Portland area.
I have heard this place is great and I have heard it is overrated. I definitely agree that it is over rated!! Our server John G made a big fuss over separating our checks, saying how long it would take a what a hassle. Ithe literally took 2 minutes. I ordered an omelette and asked if it came with hash browns, John said yes. It does NOT!!! it come with little cubes of severely over cooked potatoes that were rock hard!!!! it was busy, and took almost 45 minutes to get our food. I ordered a whole cheesecake to take home and I was given a slice of cheesecake for $7.95. NEVER again will I go to this establishment!!! Way over priced and terrible food and not the best service either!!
Good business. Very professional. Love it. Have been going there for decades. Get your daily or yearly pass.
This is a great place if you are a dog parent with a social, calm dog who likes to hang out! They even ask for the number of dogs with the people when you check in. The patio is dog friendly - we saw tons of dogs hanging out with their parents, and the menu even has dog items on it! The small indoor area is dog-free (for those who are not into eating with dogs around), with just a few tables and a bar for seating. We loved our food - all great, natural ingredients. The homemade biscuits are to die for!
This is a small, no frills restaurant, but it's GOOD. The food is a mix of Native American and Mexican flavors....unlike anything I have tasted before. This is a great lunch spot!
