prices skyrocket ,this store is not for me,only few minutes inside the store and realize not good ,sorry but is my feeling
I have been visiting Crown Hobbies since I was in my low teens. The store has had not very many owners since Mort sold the business. I am very pleased with the new management... Arturo and Jaime are great guys and very knowledgeable in the field. The prices are very reasonable and the service is great. It just feels like an old time hobby store where they may not have every little gadget and yet you will find the odds and ends you need for your project and expert advice.
Little shop. Neighborhood feel. Really friendly owner. Great for repairs.
I wish there was a way to rate a - star because this place is a mess. I was in town and decided to check out the local hobby shops. Went to this place and it was like a bomb went off inside. You could not walk down any of the isles. There was inventory all over the place like a bomb went off.. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
I HIGHLY recommend that before you decide to buy ANYTHING from these people, that you shop around for better pricing. These people, to be more specific, BRUCE - the owner - IS A RIP OFF. They will tell you that they are the only ones who have whatever it is you are looking for and want to charge you way more than what things are going for. I made the mistake of buying a quad-copter from them for $700 when everyone else is selling for $669.00. I called to get a quote on a pair of FPV googles, and i was quoted the same OVER-PRICED AMOUNT for both kits, despite one kit having less than the other (V1 vs. V2). I have also called them (just to satisfy my convictions) on several occasions to get quotes on various other add-ons for my copter and without fail - SUPER INFLATED PRICES!!! I also felt a little weird after having left the store after paying almost $750 (with taxes) on something, and the receipt looked like a little paper print out you would get at a corner bodega (grocery store). It was not a professional-looking receipt detailing the item name or anything to describe what I had just purchased. A SIMPLE PRINT OUT WITH THE AMOUNT AND MY SIGNATURE. This is not very assuring and looks unprofessional. Bottom line, if you have money to throw away - this place is a perfect match for you. Yes, they stock a lot of things - but want to over-charge for them. And if you confront the guy, he will be like "OH WELL." I HIGHLY recommend the following two places because they offered me REASONABLE FAIR PRICING and far superior friendly service:CT MOTORSPORTS - big store, huge selection and stock, friendly service, great pricing.HOBBY PRO INC - small store, they stock few items at a time but Mike and Shannon (owners) are super nice people who help you and also have great pricing.
AVOID THIS STOREEmployees do not provide service to customers. Even though at times they outnumber the customers, they would rather engage in idle chatter among themselves.
Vendor failed to respond to emails/calls which requested information/assistance regarding an on-line order. Once contacted, owner was extremely rude.Original Order was place online on 7/21. Order was processed on 7/25. I never received an automated email which included an invoice after placing the order. I sent an email to the store(7/22) asking about the status of the order:"I placed an order on Sunday for a couple Nn3 Cabooses. I didn't receive an email. So, I wanted to know if you received the order and/or you have the items in stock."I never received a response. I tried calling once after, no answer. I received the order in the mail on 7/31. 1 of the 2 items ordered were shipped b/c the other was out of stock. I called again and talked to the owner, Greg. Firstly, I asked if he was the owner or manager to which he rudely replied, "Why?". I told him that I would have liked to have received an email or notification about the out of stock item. He wasn't receptive and thought that I should have specified this at the time of the order. He became upset and continued to berate me for bringing this issue up. He wanted to give me $1.50 store credit. I told him that I had no interested in credit but wanted to let him know that his lack of communication and rude attitude were inappropriate.
Went there to find out about getting into RC cars. This guy was great very helpful and he knew his stuff about the RC cars. He helped me make a decision that I am still happy about today. I will continue shopping here just for the helpful tips this little shop offers. Also his prices are pretty competive with online pricing. Must check them out.
