Public Works Street Maintenance repairs and replaces city-owned regulatory, warning and informational signs and paints center lines, cross walks, stop bars, turn arrows and railroad crossings. It offers sweeping services for curbed streets annually. The division also offers snow removal services for streets. Public Works Street Maintenance is a division of the Public Works Department, which manages administration, administrative support, engineering, property management and fleet maintenance units. The Public Works Department is governed by City of Independence Missouri, which additionally operates police, health, fire, water, human resources, law, water pollution control, tourism, technology services, community development, and parks and recreation departments.
