We hired them 2 weeks from move date. A couple of days before the move, we called to confirm date & time (from experience, this is very important); the owner said everything was set. The morning of the move, Harvey (one of the movers) called saying they were running a little late. I asked how long and he said about 20-30 minutes. When they (3 guys) arrived half an hour later, Harvey apologized and said that he would tell his boss what time they arrived, so I wouldn't be charged extra. We had about 20 large boxes, 15 medium boxes, a couple of sofas, and 3 queen + king beds with headboards. The guys took about 45 minutes to get everything in the correct rooms and helped me set up a couple of beds too (I guess they felt bad that they made me wait???). Overall, they did a pretty good job (didn't drop anything or scrape/dented my house). I guess with Houston traffic now-a-days, the delay wasn't too bad. I've seen some of the recent reviews...not sure what happened there (bad crew maybe); hope the owner took care of it.
What a fantastic job! These guys are expert movers. I've never had such a smooth moving experience. I appreciate the care and concern these gentlemen showed to my things, as if they were moving their own stuff. Moving is never fun and I hope to not do again anytime soon, but when and if I do, I will absolutely be using Texas Moving Center!
I had booked moving helper serivice 1.5 weeks prior to the moving date. I got a call day after I had booked confirming the service and I got another call day before the morning date confirming the service. On the day of move a worker calls me at 4PM and says that he is running late due to a prior job that got delayed. He said he would be at my home at 7:00 PM. No one shows up at 7. I called both the worker and his boss (8328772364) multiple times. I sent many text messages. Finally at 8 PM (4 hours after the scheduled time) worker texts me saying that the job had been passed on to someone else and no one would be coming. He also said that the boss was not answering the phone. No one showed up !!! I had rented a U- Haul truck for which I had to pay $100. The job was not done.
I scheduled this company through U-haul a week+ before my move to have them at my apartment at 8am. I received multiple calls verifying the time of the appt (was very firm on the time because we were driving from Houston to Atlanta & had hotel reservations & movers meeting us in Atlanta the next day).At 8am on the day of our move, no movers. Called multiple times, no answer so I left messages. Finally heard back from someone at 9, the movers would be there in 30-45min (my husband spoke to the man & he implied that they were still busy at another move and would be at our house when they were done, obviously they overbooked & we got screwed).9:30 - no movers 9:45 - no movers 10 & still no movers, so I tried calling. No response.Nothing until 10:45 when a man saying he was the owner called & said the guys who were supposed to be doing my move had car trouble (not what earlier guy said), but he was sending guys over right now & that he would give me a discount for the delay.Haha...fooled me. No one showed up until 11:30am (now 3.5 hours late). While we were pissed about the delay, the guys who showed up were very professional & quick, got us loaded in just over an hour (only positive from the whole experience). They told us to give them the payment code & then call the manager to have him issue the refund. The following week, I called the numbers provided multiple times & left messages about getting my discount. No response. I finally went on movinghelp.com & filed a complaint. The guy answered that on the same day stating that they needed my new address in order to send a $20 check ($20 for a $100 job, after they wasted 3.5 hours of my time & set us back for our schedule). Whatever, I didn't care, I just wanted it resolved so I sent my address. It has now been over a month since my move & over 2 weeks since giving my address & guess what, NO CHECK!These guys have no management/organizational skills & good luck getting a hold of them. So unprofessional!
There were two good things about this company...the owner was very nice about re-scheduling my move after my apartment wasn't ready, and the one mover named Moses who was very professional. Other than that, NEVER AGAIN! I had two movers. One was so unhealthy that he could not finish the job. Found out in the middle of the move that he didn't even work for the company! He was the friend of the other mover. The guy got badly winded, almost couldn't breath, and his arm stopped functioning. He dropped my dresser and proceeded to drag it across concrete. Needless to say the top of it is ruined. Real wood. Beautifully stained. Survived 15 years and 4 moves between Houston, Texas and Annapolis, Maryland. I thought I was going to have to administer CPR and call 911. I was so afraid for him. However, I knew he was ok when he asked if he could charge his cell phone in my house. Wow.So, once he decided to stop working he hung out on my porch using his phone while I had to assist the one mover that was left to finish the job. Yep. All 127 pounds of me. He finally left to get some help…another guy who didn’t work for the moving company. In addition to scratches and dings on a TV and other wood furniture, they broke all of the knobs on my washer and dryer, so I have to go to a washateria for the first time in 20 years. So let’s see what else…got the moving truck stuck on an incline with the trailer hitch stuck IN the road…literally. There is a big chunk of asphalt missing in front of my driveway. When I spoke to the owner he was indignant and silly. He really thought that he was doing me a favor not charging me for the extra time and refuses to pay for the damages...at least that's what HE thinks. Long story short…stay away from this company. Spend the money and get a reputable company that is insured and that cares at the very least. I didn’t ask the right questions because I wrongly assumed they were legit because they were referred by U-Haul.
After having my estimated 10.5 hr trip become a 13 hour trip due to Houston traffic, road closures, and mechanical difficultly with my dolly, I was taken advantage of by this company. I booked them via Hireahelper.com a week before my move. Everything went well up until the day before my move. They called me to see if they could come out before my 3pm scheduled arrival time and I told them the earliest I could possibly make it was 2 pm but I wasn't sure. The day of my move I called them multiple times and left multiple messages to see if I could have my time pushed back to 4pm. After sighing in the phone LOUDLY they said they would be there. I called them at 4:10 to see where they were and they told me they were outside of my home. They were sitting there charging me for work that wasn't being done even after me contacting them multiple times. NO ONE told me they were outside of my home and that they would start charging me at 3:30pm. They told Hireahelper.com they couldn't make any appointments past 3:30 because they had to move another home after mines. My issue is that they are backed by hireahelper.com's cancellation fee. By them deciding to rip me off and hireahelper.com having a cancellation fee they're were comfortable asking me rude questions in condescending ways because they knew if I cancelled the day off they could still charge me $100 cancellation for a job that cost $180. After 13 hours of driving my husband and I were forced to unpack the entire truck BY OURSELVES. On top of that my package that was left on my doorstep mysteriously disappeared. If you are driving from another state I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND THEM BECAUSE they book appointments back to back which means even if you needed an extra hour of help you wouldn't get it because they have somewhere more important to be. Save yourself the headache and frustration by going with a company that provides better customer service and cares about your moving experience because this company doesn't.
I thought this company was great. I received 2 phone calls to confirm my appointment within the 2 weeks before my move. My movers were about 45 minutes late but they called twice, once to notify me they would be late and once to let me know when they were leaving the other job. This didn't bother me, since they called and kept me informed. Once they got here, they worked extremely quickly and efficiently! They packed the truck like tetnis masters and were done before I knew it! Great experience with this company! Thanks!
Rudy and Gustavo were amazing, hands down the best move and I move a lot. They worked hard fast and took great care not to damage any of my stuff. Thanks guys
I hired A 1 Houston movers to move my 2 bedroom on 8/16/2016 from the medical center to a storage of the SW freeway, even in the rain Micky and Gustavo where able to move me in less than 4 hrs. Great Job I will definitely recommend and use again.
