My child attended Boys and Girls Club at White Knoll Elementary for a very short 8 weeks. This was my first experience with this establishment. I pulled my child out this past week after another child threatened to bring a knife to school and stab my child with it. The child that made the threat was in a group of children that had been bullying my child for weeks! Multiple complaints were made on these children over these previous weeks. The week prior to this threat being made, my child was suspended for a 2 day period for putting his hands on one of the children in this same group. Even after I had been assured that these children would be kept away from mine. After investigating the knife threat against my child, I was informed by Boys and Girls Club that the situation had been handled and that I did not need to worry going forward. When I asked what the punishment was for these children bullying my child, I was told by BAGC that they could not disclose this information to me. After speaking to the school administration, I was informed that there was no punishment given at this time because there was no knife found and no admittance from the children that a threat was made. The BAGC handbook states that there is a no tolerance policy for bullying and harassment. What a JOKE!!! I emailed the corporate office to voice my concerns and to let them know that I would no longer be sending my child back to their establishment. 3 days later, I received an email notifying me that my child was withdrawn from the program. No answers to my questions, no apology, nothing!!! The instructors at this facility are obviously not equipped or capable of keeping bullying under control. During the investigation, I was told that the children admitted to pursuing my child that day even after they were told not to. However, no one saw this...?? Either that is true, or they saw it and just didn't care!! Neither of those scenarios are ok!!
They care about the money and not about the individuality of kids. Summer camp has older kids with younger kids, so older kids get away with picking on youngest and bringing tablets where they go on the inappeopriate website and use bad language. The director refused to take our son on the field trip because of his special needs and told me to get him therapy and medication for him. Very poor experience , would never come back and give them free money for nothing.
Here's a little history. My child has been going to Children's World aka Kid's Club since they were six months old. They are nearly 12. Law says that a child under the age of 12 has to be under the care of an adult. Since I live in the sticks, this is one of the only daycare centers that would pick my child up from school. My child has been going there so long they have more seniority than the current owner, that's how long we've been there. I've always paid early whenever possible, but they've never had a problem with me.I am now being currently told that it isn't worth their time to pick my kid up anymore and I have two weeks to make other arrangements. This is by an epitome of incompetence by the name of Tiffany who, as proudly as she boasted her position as being in charge of management of the employees over all centers, is apparently too incompetent to figure out how to float one person for the max of an hour to accommodate a pickup to middle school.Over these long 11 years, I have not bothered to learn the names of about 80-90% of the employees who came through. They were never there long enough. One who found out where I worked went into automatic interview mode and asked if I would put a word in for them at my workplace, they didn't last the summer. The centers themselves are given no autonomy when it comes to how they manage themselves. They talk a big game just before the summer, but every low-cost but fun option the director had set up was almost immediately shot down by the owner.I saw phenomenal teachers leave one after the other.... over .13/hour. 13 CENTS!The CFO drives a flashy BMW though. Every time I've seen her at the center, she looks irritated and terrified she'll get something dirty on her.The owner himself seems nice enough but out of touch with his people. I had to witness a director being let go because one of the people under them was combination brown noser/gossip monger, they stirred up crap just to do it. Nothing I said could stop it.Then there is this Tiffany, the manager who doesn't manage anything, the one who pawns responsibility the centers don't have back on them because she doesn't want to take any herself. The one whose very way of saying "your child" makes you think your child must have knocked off a liquor store and threatened the president. After being told no less than three times what "my child"'s name was, still got it wrong. I don't understand why in the world they keep people in the top ranks who so obviously hate children, while those getting a pittance and making it work and loving our children under their care, get nothing.I hope this place goes under.
This has truly been an amazing school my children have all been to this school and the teachers have been kind and they have helped in every step of the way and I really appreciate that.
I would say working here or sending your child here is like meeting the devil yourself. The Jones are rude, self-centered, belligerent individuals. You will work so hard for so little pay. They aren't friendly to employees or the parents who come through this center. It's always work, no days off. No matter what you had to do, I felt like a slave. I never seen a director with whom I had to argue with over my paycheck (never receive full 80 hours) also, never seen one who sends nasty emails because a parent may be short of money. Please avoid this center at all cost, worst one in Columbia.
I recommend this place definitely. If I could give it 10 stars, I would. As a mother who knows the importance of an education in today's harsh world, I would recommend them for what they have done for my two kids in terms of grades, motivation and opportunities. My son went from a 47 to a 96 in math. His teacher even doesn't believe it. His teacher was like where is this place? My daughter didn't want tutoring but her brother's success motivated her. Now she's not happy just having an 85; she wants a 100. I'm a single mom. They work with me with price. It is obvious they care and kids come first. Some one told me not to go to Mission excel because she read somebody complained about some body not responding fast enough. Yes, they're busy tutoring. People complain about Jesus. I'm glad I still went and I made it my business to come on this website and recommend them.
The sessions for my daughter started off really good and I thought this was the best place ever. I had a recent incident where I paid for my daughter's session and she was placed with a tutor who clearly said to her she didn't know the material. When she went to the owner for help she hadn't even completed the math problem and was told by her that she did very good when she was actually going to her to ask a question. She felt very pushed off during that PAID session. I called to let the owner know how my daughter felt about the session on that same day 11/17/14 and was told I would get a call from her the next day to reschedule that session. Today is 12/2/14 and I'm still waiting on that call.........
Awesome events, very organized. Coaches are very knowledgeable!
Please don't send your kids here. Teachers change frequently and staff is not certified. I've witnessed numerous occasions where staff didn't wash their hands before cooking. Clogged sinks and toilets. The owner has her favorites being the perfect kids. Your child will always be in the wrong. No one is perfect accept lots of love. YEAH RIGHT Please Please send your kids elsewhere I hate it took me so long.
Good quality Christian values and education! Wonderful teachers!
