Great steak place in Chicago history-- and that's saying a lot! While many others have "chained out", G&G's has stayed real. Family feel, with appropriate elegance, this is the steak place for those who want the REAL thing and not the highly marketed, franchised cliche. Great pasta and fish but it is the gigantic steaks you really want. They KNOW what rare actually is. They have a robust if not extensive wine selection and great old-school service. If you are lucky enough to be seated downstairs in the front room, you'll know what it feels like to be a big wheel in the City of Big Shoulders.
Our visit to Gene and Georgetti was an excellent dining experience. At the start we were greeted in a friendly manner and promptly taken to our table. No wait, even though it was at prime time. Our server was professional. We had the right amount of time for drinks and apps before ordering dinner. Service was prompt, the food good and the portions large. The price was fair. The restrooms were clean as well. In summary, this was a fun place to have dinner. Despite what the other negative reviews say, we were treated as well or better than a Chicago alderman.
We go here before almost all Hawks games and Bulls games that we attend and the service is quick, the food is delicious and the drinks are plentiful!!! They have a shuttle to the United Center but we usually just drive. Love it!! Not sure why they received the negative comments, maybe they went through a bad spell years ago but they have solved the problem, we look forward to eating here Saturday, Go Hawks!!!
I have dined at Chop House, Morton's, Smith's, Capitol, and every other steakhouse in our town. None compare to Gene & Georgetti's. Dinner comes with salad, but don't miss the Garbage Salad. It's got meats and cheeses, topped with jump shrimp. The house oil and vinegar dressing is one of he best. Writing this is making me want to go right now! They have excellent spumoni for dessert..
One of my favorite Italian/Steak houses in the city, with a great old school feel. Walk in and feel like you have been warped to the 1950s, where time doesn't matter. Waiter was so friendly and made my experience that much better! The steak was prepared with the best seasonings and cooked exactly the way you want it.
We ordered onion rings and the plate was huge! They were very good and not too heavily fried. We all ordered our steaks, my friend and I got salads also, and my dad ordered the minstrone soup. The steaks are definitely not small, but I ate all of it! The meat was so tender. Everything tasted amazing!
Can't say good enough things about the ribeyes, strip steaks, & mussels marinara; UNBELIEVABLE. You could just eat mussels, bread, have drinks and go home fat and happy. The wait staff is spot-on the hardest working crew and attentive to no end. Love you guys.
This is definitely one steakhouse to visit at least once in your life! I ate here with my dad and best friend on a Wednesday night. We did make reservations just in case, but I do not think they would have been needed except for on a weekend or for a large group.
that you have a se x offender that live in the same building.. Apt 2ND name, Jerry Sparkman. But he has several alias: Jerrie Brown, Larry Canady, Jack Davis, and Leroy Grant. Just thought the public would like to know. Lord knows I hope someone would inform me.
My absolute favorite Italian/Steakhouse restaurant in Chicago. I recommend the Spaghetti & Meatballs. The Porter House Steak was also very delicious. I love everything about this place. Definitely worth checking out.
