General Info: Aid to Artisans, founded in 1976, is a nonprofit organization offering practical training and assistance to artisan groups worldwide. The organization works in partnership with artisans to foster artistic traditions, cultural vitality, improved livelihood and community well-being. ATA offers assistance in the areas of product design and development, production, pricing, business training, market research and training and provides economic and social benefits for artisans. Its marketing department identifies appropriate clients and introduces artisan products and production capabilities to them by providing product information and samples for review, facilitating product prototyping of designs and establishing direct communication between clients and producers. ATA has worked in more than 110 countries since its inception, including Bolivia, Morocco, Peru, South Africa, Haiti and Mexico. It is headquartered in Hartford, Conn.
