Larocca's is Staten iIsland's best kept secret that should not be a secret any longer. Listed under italian Ices and Pizzeria, it is so much more! The Italian Ices are not your run of the mill ices. With over 200 flavors, all homemade, all out of this world, they are hard to resist. I guarentee once you've tried them you will not want any other italian ice. LaRocca's also has soft serve and hard Ice cream, so yummy you won't believe it!- plain or with waffles, waffle cones, sundays, you'll be running to try a new one a day. - and the toppings- any way you like it, can't be beat. When i first went to LaRocca's 20 years ago, i said "WHAT!" So many good things under one roof! The owners are warm and friendly always aiming to please. Their restaurant/pizzeria is so above average. If you really yearn for a great slice, LaRocca's has itI've been to some of the other 'popular' restaurants where I had to send food back because it was aweful! At LaRocca's, you get quality, healthy portions, in a cozy family atmosphere. Affordable, delicious- it shouldn't be a secrect anymore. highly recommended. there, i shared my secret.
I love pizza. Reggiano's pizza is good. But the staff they have there including the owner 'Mike' really need to be more cognizant of hygiene. These guys that run the show there are a rag tag team of fat hairy Italian guys. Which is fine if you have some respect for what you do. I have seen staff wipe there nose with their bare hand, stick their hand in their pants to scratch, and openly sneeze right in front of the pizza and where they prep food. I really want this place to stay because the pizza is good. But these guys need to clean themselves up. I'm not saying you have to wear tuxedos. I understand they are a group of men who own a business and make pizza all day. I don't expect there isn't some fraternity-like shannanigans and crude jokes behind close doors. But keep them there. Have respect for your guests. Have pride in what you do. If you're serving food don't look and act like a slob. Be a positive part of the community. Be a breathe of fresh air. These guys are more like a fart in the wind.
Went to Reggiano's 1/19/15 with my two grown sons. We sat our selves in the second room, the first room was crowded. We ordered Fried Calamari for our appetizer and it was a large portion but over cooked and very crispy. We also ordered Shrimp Parmigiana hero and a Margarita Regiano Pizza. The waiter brought the Calamari and the Shrimp Parm hero out together and was about to bring the pizza out too. I told him not to, that we wanted to eat the Appitizer first. We then ordered Chicken Wings which we didn't like. We wanted to try the wings in sauce, but should have ordered the buffalo wings. That was not their fault. My son was trying to eat the Apps. and the Shrimp Parm hero at the same time. Bad timing. We then got the pizza and was dissapointed because it is not made from fresh pizza dough. You can tell that it was ready made crust. It tasted like Boboli. I don't understand how they claim they have the best Brick Oven Pizza. They didn't fool us. We will not be going back.
Went here for a little mini reunion with some old friends who haven't gotten together in awhile. We asked for a table for four, but later one more was coming. Therefore, we said five people all together. They sat us at a four person booth. We asked to pull a chair over when the fifth person came. They were so rude and said no, so we asked if we could possibly move to a larger table. Our waitress later came over to the new table soooo rude and said " Well I can see you moved tables without informing me". Just very unprofessional. It stinks because the food is great! However, the staff, not so great. All night, they constantly asked us if we were done, trying to rush us out. Literally we had a waitress every 5 mins coming up to us. Meanwhile, the restaurant was packed, we were not holding them up, especially because it was only 9pm and the website says 11:30 on Mondays. I just felt like the staff ruined the experience, because the food was so amazing! Sigh.
I've run in for slices here and there, which are always delicious. But when I met a few friends there for dinner, after I sat down it took a good 10-15 minutes for a waiter to even come over and ask me what I wanted to drink. What bothered me is that they were not busy. Then another waiter came over to read the specials, or should I say, recite a novel. There must have been at least 12 different "specials" which I recall non of because not only of how many there were to remember, but the waiter was mumbling the entire time. I ordered a dozen oysters on the half shell (From a completely differ waiter AGAIN), they were not good, very small and the color wasn't right. Main course, Lobster ravioli, very good. Just wish they threw in one or two more.
I have very high expectations when it comes to restaurants and I thought puglia of hester st (the staten island location) was very good. My dinner was excellent and the service was 100%. If I read some of these reviews first I would have never ate there, but these reviews are oh so wrong!! You people must have went to a different restaurant then me because I had wonderful experience. The owners greeted me from the second I walked into the place to the second I walked out, they were a delight and made me feel comfortable. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are filling. Overall I had a great time with my family and will always be going back.
I live very near this place but have never ordered from them before. I decided to try them and ordered online. It was so easy and the menu and desciptions of items were clear and accurate. The pricing was very fair for Staten Island. I orderd a large, half plain, half pepperoni pie, 2 sodas, and an order of zeppoli's. The delivery of the food was very quick and hot and delicious. I was very impressed and have vowed to keep ordering from them!!! Keep up the good work guys!!!! Staten Island yearns for good pizza and now I finally found it.
The best pizza on SI. Many varieties of pizza. I love their Grandma pie and chicken pie. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. Not only is the pizza good but their chicken roll is another favorite of mine. Judging by how fast they go once they come out the oven it is the favorite of a lot of people. Mmmm good! The only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is because they do not deliver. Also Food TV profiled them on one of their shows recently.
The food was great. I have been there at least six times but I must say the service is hit or miss. I do not mind the wait for the food because it is very good. The prices are reasonable, the owners are pleasant and the bartender is friendly. The singer has a good voice and is entertaining. Unfortunately, some of the wait staff are not very attentive to their tables. The kids helping with the tables are good and some of the waiters are excellant.
I have not been here for a long ago and wanted to check the place I liked. Fortunately, it is on the same place with the same quality and customer-oriented service! I ordered pick up a buffalo pan pie, fried calamari and mozzarella sticks. A counter girl informed me that the stuff is gonna be ready in 35 minutes. I came in 30 min and was surprised that my food is already waiting me. I like the people and what they do.
