Danny Jrs Garden Center & Stone Yard

Good as a garden center I suppose, but don't use them for any landscape maintenance work! Laborers took 10 hours to do my property, and it's not huge, they're just slow. The owner paid both men overtime and passed the cost onto me for almost $200 more than my quote. Isn't that just super! If that wasn't enough, one of the men must have tripped over one of my boulder rocks and fell onto my mugo pines and smashed them flat. They were gorgeous the morning of the scheduled work. I even thought to myself as I looked at them early that morning, this was a good year for them as they never looked better -- and then they were smashed and look like ground cover now. No explanation on how this could happen in a matters of hours. The careless work goes on. Laborers broke two sprinkler emitters. Owner replaced one, but when the repair was done, laborers went back over the same area applying fertilizer that they "forgot" to do on the first trip and stepped on another emitter and broke that off too. I didn't realize that until the next day when I ran my sprinkler. So now I'll be out even more $$ getting it fixed. And forget their so-called "root mulch". Horrible!! Its black top soil with some mulch in it. Very dirty, stained everything it touched and where each man walked. Owner said "oh the rain will wash it away." Well a hose and a push broom didn't remove it. Only a scrub brush with hot water and bleach did the trick!! Never again will I be using them for any services. If you don't care about neatness, good workmanship, slower than average work (that you'll end up paying more for), ruined shrubbery, and broken sprinklers, then go ahead and hire them.

I requested an estimate for some yard work and the owner had no interest in what I wanted but rather suggested to plant just a bunch of arborvitae bushes all the way around out fence line. Over $8000 worth of simple work. Dropped off estimates in my mail box hand written like chicken scratch. Not professional at all. Nothing was itemized or broken down to cost. I called and asked for a more specific estimate and never heard from him. So rude.

Not surprised about the poor reviews below. I purchased landscaping stone and paid to have it delivered. Stones are neatly stacked on pallets at the store and wrapped in chicken wire. I bought two pallets. Both were dumped from a dump truck at a three foot height onto my cement driveway. Pallets landed upside down and stones crumbled. Damage to driveway as well. I took the pictures, but owner refused to even look at them. He told me that is the proper method of delivery. Two other more reputable Garden Centers in the same area told me that they would never deliver this type of thin slate stone from a dump truck. They only use forklift delivery for this type of stone. I guess those Garden Centers are smarter than Danny's. Must concur with other reviews that owner is very rude. I found that Dambly's Garden Center in Berlin was much more knowledgable, friendly, and professional. Too bad this family run business in Sicklerville is so fickled. They just are not consistently friendly. Maybe they need a class on professionalism. Steer clear, or risk a moody staff.

The owner, Danny is a really swell guy. Donated 2 holly bushes to my eagle scout project, no questions asked. All of the bad reviews are from 2011 and before, so now they really are a quality garden center!

I came on here to write a good review and can't believe the reviews. This is a great place. I always buy my firewood from them every year. They are very helpful and knowledgeable. I came to buy some tree stakes the other day and had asked about a skip laurel I have that seems to be dying. She cut to the chase and told me she really needed to see it before just making buy a bunch of products that may not even be the issue. I came back the other day with a branch and was told it was a fungus. She explained what to do and how to apply the chemical. The prices can be a little high but you get what you pay for, Quality. I am a contractor and know when a place has quality and takes pride in their nursery. You can't get a lot of what they have and the quality at a big box store. I will always recommend them. I've tried other places for firewood to try to save a few dollars and believe me it was a bad experience. Their firewood burns nice and seasoned well. I highly recommend them!!!!!!!

I came on here write a review about how rude the elderly over-tanned female owner is and noticed I'm not the first person to experience this. She yelled at the young worker, who was very helpful to us, for no reason. I would not spent one dollar there. She was not helpful. While he was helping us, she came over his walkie talkie and said, " I told u to get over here right now, tell that customer to wait." that was just the beginning of my rude experience. DO NOT SUPPORT PEOPLE LIKE THIS!!!

I went to this establishment to price some trees and to purchase rubber mulch . As i looked over a bag i noticed the bag was open . I picked up a piece of mulch out of the bag just to feel the texture and was accused of opening the bag and was told i had to buy the bag. I told the owner i didnt open the bag at all when he replyed that i did and was i going to buy that bag since i opened it . then one of the other rude workers stated the bag was already open but i opened it more. I told them they are a joke if i told you the bag was already open then it was open ! We are adults and these bags are here for dislpay so im sure the person that opened it thought it was ok . I wanted to make a few purchases but since i was acused of something i didnt do and so rudely talked to i would not spend a dime in this place . Work on your customer service skills when people " choose " your business to spend their hard earned money. .......!!!!

BEWARE they are RUDE and overpriced and NOT CUSTOMER-CENTRIC. Even though most of the flowers i purchased from them died untimely deaths, i really tried to make a concerted effort to support them as a local business - until yesterday when i was accused of trying to steal a bale of hay in broad daylight!!! wtf? a bale of hay? really dude?!?



i will never spend another penny there. they lost not only my business but my entire family's. we now drive all the way to atco or go to berlin farmers market for our nursery needs.



At Dannys they will repay your loyalty with disrespect. i strongly recommend that you shop somewhere where they care about their customers.
