Overall

Unfortunately, I had to give at least one star...

The first time (Spring 2012) I went to Dr. Dentice, I had only gotten X-rays, and a cleaning done. No problem there. During this appointment, it was suggested that I get a root canal. I scheduled appointment for the procedure a few weeks after.

During the following appointment, I got the root canal done, and they gave me a temporary crown. Dr. Dentice handle the procedure very professionally.

Three to four weeks later, I went back for my permanent crown. This is where the problems started. After getting the permanent crown, the glue didn't hold and I had to go back the same day, making me late for work. She took me in immediately, and reapplied the crown.

About ten days later, the crown fell off yet again, and of course I went back and she took me and replaced the glue, and put the crown back in place.

This crown fell off several more time, and I went back and she would do the same procedure. Dr. Dentice didn't understand why the glue wasn't working, and instead of trying another sort of adhesive, she continued to use the same glue, and resulted in me having to constantly go back over a five-month time period.

Finally, she decided to change the glue she was using, which worked. I found it extremely unprofessional that she just then decided to use a different product, instead of trying to find a solution within the first few times.

A month later, I went back for another cleaning, and there were no problems. In the winter, I had gotten another cleaning done, and also a gum procedure (that she had recommended), and she said it was covered by my insurance. I specifically stated that I did not want to go through with the procedure unless it was covered, because if it wasn't, I would wait. So I went ahead with the cleaning and the other procedure.

I went in a month later, in need of another crown. They told me that I owed them $68 for the cleaning. I told them that I thought it was covered by my insurance, because that's what I was told by Dr. Dentice. They then told me that they made a mistake, and they apologized. I had asked them repeatedly to check and make sure it was covered by my plan, because I would have waited until it was. Since it was there mistake, I told them that they should pay for it, because I wouldn't have gotten it done. I wouldn't mind paying the $68, or if I had to wait to get everything done, if they would have done there research. But since they neglected to do one simple thing, I refuse to pay for their mindlessness.

I also wouldn't mind if they were courteous about it, and called me as soon as they figured out that the cleaning and gum procedure wasn't covered. Now, they have collection agencies harassing me, because they slipped up.

Also, I found out from a few of her other patients that were told that they needed a root canal, got a second opinion, and didn't need to get the operation done at all.

I ended up finding another dentist, and they were shocked when I had told them about my experience with Dr. Dentice.
