Pregnancy

Ultrasound
Bone density scanning, also called dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA or DEXA) or bone densitometry, is an enhanced form of x-ray technology that is used to measure bone loss. DEXA is today's established standard for measuring bone mineral density (BMD). An x-ray (radiograph) is a painless medical test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions. Radiography involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. X-rays are the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. DEXA is most often performed on the lower spine and hips. Portable DEXA devices, including some that use ultrasound waves rather than x-rays, measure the wrist, fingers or heel and are sometimes used for screening purposes.
MRI
In MRI-guided breast biopsy, magnetic resonance imaging is used to help guide the radiologist's instruments to the site of the abnormal growth.

X-Rays
Mammography
3D mammography is one of the latest technological innovations in women's healthcare. 3D mammography, also known as digital breast tomosynthesis, images of the whole breast are taken in slices (similar to a scanner), helping the radiologist to see all around and between the breast tissues. It is like being able to read each page of a book individually, even while holding it up to the light.
Computed Tomography
On the day of the exam you may eat normally. You should not take calcium supplements for at least 24 hours before your exam. You should wear loose, comfortable clothing, avoiding garments that have zippers, belts or buttons made of metal. You may be asked to remove some or all of your clothes and to wear a gown during the exam. You may also be asked to remove jewelry, eye glasses and any metal objects or clothing that might interfere with the x-ray images. Inform your physician if you recently had a barium examination or have been injected with a contrast material for a computed tomography (CT) scan or radioisotope scan. You may have to wait 10 to 14 days before undergoing a DEXA test. Women should always inform their physician or x-ray technologist if there is any possibility that they are pregnant. Many imaging tests are not performed during pregnancy because radiation can be harmful to the fetus. If an x-ray is necessary, precautions will be taken to minimize radiation exposure to the baby.
Chemotherapy
Doctors recommend CVACs for patients who regularly undergo dialysis or chemotherapy treatments, or for patients who frequently receive antibiotic or antifungal infusions or nutritional supplements.
Interventional Radiology
Interventional radiology is the medical specialty devoted to advancing patient care through the innovative integration of clinical and imaging-based diagnosis and minimally invasive therapy.

Gangrene
Other symptoms may include numbness, tingling or weakness in the leg. In severe cases, you may experience a burning or aching pain in the feet or toes while resting, or develop a sore on the leg or foot that does not heal. People with PAD may also experience a cooling or color change in the skin of the legs or feet, or loss of hair on the legs. In extreme cases, untreated PAD can lead to gangrene, a serious condition that may require amputation of a leg or a foot.
Hysterectomy
InterVasc at Bay Radiology (temporarily closed due to Hurricane Michael) offers a variety of minimally invasive procedures that are done on an outpatient basis at our practice, treatment of arteries and veins for vascular disease, especially peripheral vascular disease and varicose veins (PAD/PVD); cosmetic treatment of varicose veins (Sclerotherapy), as well as laser therapy; diagnosis of vascular disease; UFE - Uterine Fibroid Embolization (alternative to hysterectomy); treatment of acute fractures of the spine (Kyphoplasty/Vertebroplasty); cancer treatments for nonsurgical tumors of the kidneys and liver; treatment of acute stroke patients; drainage procedures to treat abscesses and abnormal fluid collections, especially in the chest and abdomen; biopsies anywhere in the body except in the heart and brain; chemoembolization of liver tumors; IVC filter placement and removal and a full service vascular lab.
