The food, atmosphere, and food are phenomenal. I definitely recommend it. The alligator bites were my favorite. Kid-friendly.

I have been to this location twice, the first time I had the scallops, and they were over done (extremely chewy) and this last time I has the lobster stuffed shrimp special that were watery and lacked flavor. Food quality appears to be very spotty as the table next to me said the same thing after they got their food too ... we all got the stuffed shrimp. For the price, there are many other restaurants in the area with better tasting food. Current, food quality is below par. Going here only 2 times over my last 16 trips speaks volumes. Not sure if I want to go back one more time as I travel to Charleston twice a month on business. We will see.
I have only bought their fresh shrimp. It's heads on, right off the boat. Beats driving 15 miles to crosbys. I find the people are friendly and helpful so would recommend it to anyone in the area for fresh seafood.
Just want to drop by and say, thanks for the good food and service. I live in augusta georgia. So when I come to charleston this crab shack is my favorite spot. The food is always above and beyond superlicious. The staff always kind and professional. The prices are unbelievable for fresh seafood. We don't get it like that in augusta. The place is immaculate. The last two trips Jenn was our server. She sets the standard for servers. Very knowledgeable about the menu and food. Very kind and we are always greeted with a smile. After all smiles are universal language for kindness. Please let her know larry and toni from augusta really appreciate her and your restaurant....PEACE!
It was kinda off the road to get to but easy to find once I knew where I was going. Staff stands at the front staring out the door when it's slow so I didn't get the full feel of the place when it's busy. A little bland for my taste but decent meal, nice portions, and laid back vibe. I've been to better, but I won't say this was bad. Everyone was friendly too as I sat and watched them interact.
Really good seafood, but the sides weren't very good. A little pricey for what you get.
This is where I go for my seafood. Live crabs, fresh fish and large clams. Clams are usually 12 for $4 you choose them yourself and they are HUGE! depending on the time of year you can get 3dozen live crab from $18-$33. They are less during fall/winter. This is my "go to" place. I'm willing to drive the 10 miles from my house to get there!
I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy!
This was the north Charleston location, my wife and I were excited to try some fresh local seafood and the hotel clerk highly recommended this place and gave us a coupon for a free app, we had the crab dip, which tasted like tuna fish and mayo and old bay seasoning, and it was served with 10 packs of captain wafer crackers, which were the best part of the meal. I ordered the shrimp PO boy sandwich, which said a PO boy roll and it was not, it was a store bought hoagie roll, the shrimp were hot and tasteless the tartar sauce was also tasteless, I asked for tomatoes, lettuce and pickles, my wife commented that the pickle spear placed on my sandwhich to eat looked as though someone had taken bites out of it already. The fries tasted like they had sat for a while and were re-fried again, a huge no-no. My wife ordered the shrimp quesadilla and a baked potato that she said was cold. It came with a mango salsa, which was a joke. I would not recommend this location to anyone that enjoys good food. Wait staff was friendly, but very slow. Ambiance was ok, made it seem like the food would be good. Our food was hot except for the baked potato. The food presentation was very sloppy. Do not eat here.
