My husband and I highly recommend this restaurant! The food was amazing!! My husband is a steak man, so he ordered a filet mignon (butterflied) with a side of lobster tails! WOW! The steak was cooked perfectly and the lobster tails (3) were delicious. I ordered salmon and it was wonderful! The atmosphere was inviting; low lighting and water side. We will definitely be back!

I am a disabled combat veteran, I have a service dog. According to Federal Law (Americans with Disabilities Act) my dog is allowed to go wherever I go. The greeter demanded my dogs papers. I explained that according to Federal Law, she could ask only 2 questions, 1 is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? 2. What work or task has the dog been trained to perform? Staff are not allowed to request any documentation for the dog, require that the dog demonstrate it's task, or inquire about the nature of the persons disability. I was still denied entry. So much for supporting American Veterans.
Ordered a Steam Pot and a Tito's Mule, both of which were everything I hoped they could be. I was a little disappointed at the upcharge they were asking in order to serve the Mule in the appropriate copper mug, it seemed a little absurd. I could imagine someone trying to abscond with them, so fine, put a hold on my credit card instead. Anyways, $16 for one drink is a little over the top. We went upstairs after and took in the view. All in all GOOD but not GREAT.
The fried fish was mushy, but other fish (or something) was dry in the wando, which had a tiny piece of fried grits for a base under a rich sauce. Salad was bowl of lettuce with little more and cost extra as a side. Jambalaya had crab shell pieces in it. Service was pretty good.
I have been to this restaurant many times over the last 5 years and have seen the quality of food and service go steadily down hill while prices stayed high. It used to be my favorite place to take out of time guests, not anymore!
I'm still sitting in the booth writing this because I couldn't wait to say how wonderful this place is! I have had the worst luck in finding good seafood in charleston sc and I stopped here by chance and I am so glad I did!!! I had a shrimp blt and a side salad and my mother had the shrimp n grits. Everything was amazing! U can actually taste the freshness in the vegetables and the shrimp. Excellent place I can't say enough about it!
My husband comes to charleston several times a year and RB' s is a favorite. I came with him this time so we visited RB's for dinner. The place was very cozy and well decorated. Loved to be able to go out on dock and watch the creek. After about a 20 minute wait for a table next to the creek, we were seated. We had ordered drinks from the bar. My husband ordered a piña colada and did not like his. My drink was fine. Our waiter was very attentive after seated. The calamari was very good. Not the best we ve had but not bad. My husband ordered the crab cakes and a salad. They were excellent! I ordered broiled shrimp and scallops with red rice and baked potatoe. The shrimp were a little dry......again not bad but not the best I've had either. The scallops were very good! I had never tried the red rice before and both myself and my husband loved it. Don't think I have ever been to a restaurant where I didn't have to ask for extra sour cream and butter for the baked potatoe but I didn't this time. It was excellent as well. Service was great and since it was around 9 pm and on labor day monday was not very crowded. Cozy enough that we talked with some of the other diners........had our own special light show. There was a severe thunder storm while we were there and it was great watching the lightening over the water! I'm sure that was ordered just for us. : )We will be back, not just for the light show but the atmosphere and food as well. Thanks RB's!
Great ambiance and good service.I like the menu and the dishes presented at my table looked superb. We did receive a barely warm/very thick bowl of She Crab Soup. After sending it back (less than two minutes after receiving it) we got our entrees before the soup. We cancelled the soup...who wants to have their appetizer after starting the entree? As I said, the dishes (specifically our entrees) looked outstanding. The downfall is that there was absolutely no seasoning in our dishes...zero. Do you know how horrible pasta noodles and "sauteed" mushrooms taste with no salt? It wasn't good...not by a long shot. Pretty, yes...good, no.Hopefully Locklear's will get some better cooks in the near future.
I was a regular here from 95' till 99' when I moved away. Now that I am back in FL I drop in a few times a yr. This is where the locals eat. Awsome boat shaped bar. Very casual dining. Outdoor bar on the creek in season. Open fry-line where one can watch the chef's cooking. AWSOME fresh seafood. I just love this place and am sure to drop in whenever I am in the Charleston area. See ya soon!
