On Day Three of partying my tail off and the general overstimulation of a blogging conference, I was spent. I craved comfort food, soft seats, and though I didn’t realize it until I got there, I wanted a personal TV at my table. BlackFinn provided all of those things along with superb service and affordable menu items. For some reason I had envisioned BlackFinn as being lowbrow pub food served by greasy looking bar backs. Not so. The food was fresh and yummy, and was delivered by an adorable and sweet server who didn’t bat an eye at our "Team Obnoxious" antics. How good does Southern Nachos, which is pulled pork barbecue, queso and the rest of usual nacho topping suspects sound after days of little sleep, networking, and blog learning sound? Let me just tell you, it made my tummy and my taste buds happy. Other standouts included the Blackened Brie and the Mac and Cheese. If I had been more worried about consuming lighter fare at that moment, the Goat Cheese, Strawberry and Pecan Salad would have been a prime choice. But seriously, at place that boasts items like Bacon Wrapped Meatloaf, it makes more sense to go for the tastes you really desire, lean back in your booth, stuff your face and watch some TV.
This place is a rare gem of a restaurant tucked away in Myers Park where executives from BoA, Duke E, etc. like to dine undetected-- need I say more…
Underwhelmed. Yeah, I get that a few places have crazy good inventive bartenders that grow and blend their own ingredients, thus justifying ridiculous cocktail prices. This isn't one of those places, and the cocktails aren't terribly special...but they are priced as if they are. Beer menu isn't terribly varied, wanted a stout I hadn't had before, ended up with a NoDa porter I've had 100 times. It's good, just wanted something new. Waiter didn't understand beer styles, so he was useless. No, I do not want a black lager as a substitute, thank you. Tapas, huh? What this means is full price for half of a plate with no sides. My beef skewers were fantastic, but they were pretty small. Sure glad I got to fill up on fries (not). I'm not normally overly sensitive, but where we were sitting had an incredible odor of mold, that sure didn't help. I'll give it another shot and update accordingly depending on how it goes.
This place is a rare gem of a restaurant tucked away in Myers Park where executives from BoA, Duke E, etc. like to dine undetected-- need I say more?! Old world charm where the wait staff & owner know you by name, giving it a great familial feel rarely seen in Charlotte these days. The food is always fresh & delicious, with ample-sized portions. I love their chopped salad but still mourn the sea bass they recently removed from the menu. Aside from that negative, everything else on their new menu is delightful. Our favorite waiter is Noor who is very knowledgeable, always provides great customer service & has a fabulous accent! This restaurant is definitely worth the trip!
This adorable wine bar is also one of the best restaurants in uptown Charlotte! It has a fantastic wine list, all hand selected by the owner who happens to be a sommelier. Attend their "Tastings Tuesdays" and you will be impressed with his wine knowledge. The chef is very talented and creative! They use all local, in-season fare and everything is freshly prepared to order. Some of my favorites are the crispy duck, the pork belly and the grilled mahi. Their desserts are all made in house and are unique and to die for! All this in a warm, cozy, romantic atmosphere. What more could you want?
We love Harry's! We live in the apartments above Harry's so we may be slightly partial, but we absolutely love this place. Their food is delicious and if you want the best sweet potato fries you have ever eaten ... this is the place to go! We have ordered pick up here quite a few times, in addition to sitting in, and the guy who answers the phone and takes the orders is always very nice and funny! 5 starts for Harry's!
Happened upon Ed's on the way to the South End for dinner. Lively place with good, attentive service and a nice atmostphere, even if it was a bit on the loud side. Had a mix of folks young and old and seemed like the kind of place you'd come back often to hang out with friends. I'll be back next time I'm in Charlotte.
I really like this place. I have never had a bad meal. I usually stick to their salad since there aren't enough good salad places around. I had a pork loin for a lunch special It was excellent.
Great atmosphere, they have a very extensive menu something for everyone. The food is great and the service is fast and friendly.
This placee exceeds all expectations of a typical mexican resturant and will continue to get my buisness until they close.
Excellent atmosphere and food. I will definitely visit again when in the Charlotte area. The crab cakes were great!!
