Where should I start; hmmm well, if you have never been GO cause you'll be in for a treat! When you do go take a group of people to get that family style effect of the rotating table. If you are like me do a little homework on the DIM SUM to give your self an idea of what you would possible like. THE ORIENTAL PEARL HAD EVERYTHING MY FAMILY AND I WANTED AND MORE, O SO DELICIOSO! Remember four words when you get to the restaurant we / I want DIM SUM!

Frist time Dim Sum experience - I'm hooked

Excellent Dim Sum
We went for dinner and it wasn't crowded at all - we were swarmed with help and wait staff - none of that not my table stuff going on
We had to ask for dim sum - and they brought out a cart
ask them to speak slowly and you can figure it out
I was hoping it would be a place (maybe its cause they werent busy) where people are just walking around with steaming carts yelling ""shrimp and pork dumplin"" but it was worth the wait
we had to ask for some dipping sauces - not sure you are supposed to but it really made it good
we also ordered the dungeness crab with butter and garlic and it was fabulous
service was outstanding and food was excellent - maybe if i go more often and tip $20 they will see me coming and meet me at my table with ""shrimp and pork dumrin!""

Best Dim Sum in Atlanta

This review is only for the dim sum.

My wife and I have had lots of experience with dim sum. We grew up on the stuff. We've had dim sum in Hong Kong, Vancouver B.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, Chicago, New York, London, Boston, Orlando and a few other smaller places. Of all the restaurants that serve dim sum in the Atlanta area this is the best.
The egg/custard tarts are the best. There does not appear to any food coloring added unlike other Chinese bakeries and restaurants. The steamed barbecue pork buns are excellent. There is no taste of yeast or baking powder and the dough does not stick to the roof of your mouth. There does not appear to be added coloring to the chicken feet. At other places, there is too much red in the chicken feet.

The only down side was that on two occasions the restaurant served some spoiled dim sum. Be careful and let the management know. We got replacements.

Parking on the weekend can be terrible and the wait can be long. Arriving before noon should help.

great food...but a little pricey

Oriental Pearl has some great food as well. I've been there a few times with my family, and I have enjoyed it. It is pretty authentic, but the price is a little high, I would still recommend it to anyone that likes real Chinese food.

Oriental Pearl is undergoing changes again!

Oriental Pearl was once the best Chinese restaurants serving dim sum in Atlanta. Patrons came from all over the state, from neighboring states, to savor the authentic food especially the wonderful dim sum during the weekend. However, last year, it underwent some renovation, and became a nondescript restaurant serving a bland American-Chinese just like thousands of others. The once faithful patrons voted with their feet and money and abandoned the restaurant in droves. Recently though, Oriental Pearl appears to be undergoing another renovation. I was by the place last week and the renovation work was just starting. The contractor there did not provide much information but hopefully, the owners have come to their sense and abandoned the fast-food buffet style food and gone back to their wonderful authentic dishes. Let's wait and see, and keep our fingers crossed.

Hong Kong in Atlanta

Dim Sum (e.g., Chinese dumpling) here is the most authentic in the Southwest. Served in a realistic environment, small warm dishes come in carts; you can see the dished before making your selection. Hot tea is a recommended drink.
