I am writing this post to let others know about the lack of concern the Mason post office has for the community, nor do they honor their guaranteed services. I have written one post which seems to have been deleted from this site, so I will write another. On 12/22/15 I mailed a small package priority mail express with a money back guarantee to arrive by 3pm on 12/23. The cost was $29.00. I used this service for a reason—to have the package arrive at the guaranteed time. The package did not arrive until the morning of 12/24. On 12/24 I went to the Mason post office to get my money back. I had the tracking number with me, but not the receipt. I was told I could return on Saturday, 12/26 with the receipt, between the hours of 8am-noon and would be reimbursed the cost. I returned at 11 am on Saturday 12/26 with the receipt and waited on a line that extended from the counter to the door (this is typical for this particular post office, and no one is in any hurry to move things along). When it was my turn, I was told by the woman who waited on me that she did not have the authorization to help me and I would have to wait for someone else to help me. The next person who waited on me told me I would have to wait at the pick-up counter for someone there to help me. I waited again and then was told by this woman, (Pearl) who was the supervisor on duty, that she also did not have authorization to process the refund and the person who did (Todd O’Reilly) was off until Monday. I became frustrated and told her I felt I was getting the run-around. I requested she call the person that could authorize the refund. She left and returned 10 minutes later after speaking with her supervisor, Todd O’Reilly. He told her he could not authorize the refund as it had to be approved by “the people downtown.” I told her I wanted to speak with Mr. O’Reilly. She left again for another 10 minutes and returned saying he would not speak with me, but gave me a consumers affairs phone number and told me I could get help there. I told her I would call right then from my cellphone, and she replied, “Oh, well they are not there today.” I left there and contacted the Northland Blvd. post office where I had originally mailed the package. I live in Mason, but was in that area of town when I mailed the package. They told me to come in and they would reimburse the cost. I did this with no problem. It is a shame that the Mason community has to be served by the Snider Rd. post office. There hasn’t been one time I have gone there and not had to wait on a long line, then to be told I would have to wait longer because that person couldn’t help me. While I stood there on line on 12/24 I watched another customer ring the bell twice at the pick- up window only to have no one respond. She walked out of the post office.
I am a nurse and deal with the public on a daily basis. If a patient or family has a complaint and asks to speak with the manager, the manager will call that person whether or not she is off duty at the time. Most businesses today are in competition to provide the best customer service to their clients. Obviously the Mason post office must somehow be exempt from providing excellent service to their customers.
