Just had them on the phone. Gave me some great advice (on my Subaru Impreza 2016 with a CVT and my 1983 Chevy C30) that was not self promoting and rang true. Nice guy and very knowledgeable.

Hi, I'm LJR & I own a 05 4.0 Mustang w/164890 mi.. It's always driven like it's stolen. So I started hearing it make noise in the rear axle/differential & it was bad just a few days ago. I couldn't go over 25mph before it started howling like a sick hound dog. I took my car to 2 different place's &1 place quoted me $1,900. They told me that my whole differential needed a complete rebuild & charged me $68.00 for a diagnostics/ taking the dif. lid off & drain the gear oil. They pointed some stuff out to me that I had to take their word. $1,900 But that price turned me way off. So being one who always get three quotes I went to another place, and they quoted me $1,400. While I watched the tecks inspect my Mustang by grabbing ahold of the drive shaft & moving it back & forth then telling me, " Yup, it sure is broke. " To say the least did not impress me at all. Then a few of my friends plus my son n law who is a mech.. Told me to go to Thurston Transmission. So I did, I should have gone to them first. Since they made a complete inspection of the differential took off the drive shaft & inspected the pinion gear. They said that was just loose they retoqued the pinion & lock tite the bolts. My price $106.00. They have my business for life the staff were very honest & awesome.

Wouldn't go anywhere else! Was referred to Jason Higgins from my Dad. Excellent service they actually care! Had a consultation, explained the issues I was having with my Audi Jason took notes! (instead of just agreeing with me) suggested things that needed to be checked as well as explained why those symptons were occuring, most importantly had a solution that was reasonable and in a timely manner. Great service highly recommend this shop for repairs.

I had a bad experience here...worst ever for me.

Absolutely the worst vehicle repair experience ever. I would not recommend these guys to anyone. I went with them believing in the value of the warranty, however, the headaches that followed was not worth it. I am not entirely confident, based on my last 8+ visits that my warranty is any good. After an initial quote of $2100, we spent over $3500 by the time we were done, and that was on a carry-out with us (my son and I) doing all the heavy work. I don't even know where to begin. A couple examples is: After they called my minor son, they told him they needed to bypass the electronic system that controls the overdrive, because the wires looked intimidating, my son agreed to a "bypass switch" which my son would have to turn on or off at 45 mph, even in the dark, on twisty roads etc, they drilled a hole in my 1st Generation Dodge dash to install the switch. By the way, the truck does not have kick-down for passing once that is done. I complained, as we paid for a proper working transmission, and Larry said it was the easiest thing he could do instead of tracking down the electrical component that allows the transmission to go in and out of overdrive. I said there is like three things that controlled the overdrive, he agreed to look into the matter, and yes If I did not consult with other technicians, and bought my own service manual or else it would have got worse. So as they looked into the electrical matter, they recommended the removal of the thermal switch on the transmission line. Larry says that switch is useless and it is industry standard not to know when your transmission is overheating.. I wish I was kidding. Switch gone. As they were looking into it, they loosened the electrical connector to the fuel shut off solenoid. The truck died on them due to the faulty connection. Jason calls me and says it ran out of fuel and I owe them $20. They then park it in their lot and tell me it is my problem, that I should now bleed the fuel lines (diesel) and good luck. I go and buy tools and spend awhile, in their lot, bleeding fuel lines, just to find out they were all good and that the Solenoid wire was just loose. However, the component which controlled the overdrive was not resolved and they send me home anyhow. I bring it back and they determine it to be a faulty TPS (throttle position sensor) and that I will owe them $440 for the part. I look up the part and it is $220 (Standard brand like what they use). I tell them I will just bring in my own part, since they didn't have prior approval from me to buy a $440 part. They were very mad and took out their alleged new part and part the defective part back in and said "Good luck" and by the way, once I installed it I had to bring it back an additional three times so they could jack me around. This is where it gets interesting. I install the part and get it set fairly close to spec. They put it on their meter and said I bought the wrong part. "These 1992 Dodges can either have a clockwise or counterclockwise TPS sensor and you got the wrong one" HOWEVER, there is ONLY one TPS sensor and the clockwise / counterclockwise information was completely fabricated. They lied to me. I call them on it and they said there was a negative bell curve to the voltage output.... However for another $90 they will fix it. (which by the way is literally 30 secs with a volt meter and a 10 mm wrench) I said no thanks and that I will replace the part with the one that "spins the other way" wink wink (left it in). I make an appointment so they were expecting me and then they left my truck in their lot for 30 minutes. They pull it in and checked it in under 5 minutes...then stall another 30 minutes before pulling it out. I said I could make the adjustment in under ten minutes a...

Best shop in town!

The Staff at Thurston County Transmission are the best! Larry and Wayne totally took care of me! I went to the Chevy Dealer first and after hearing the quote they gave me for a transmission rebuild with no warranty I wanted to do some shopping around. After calling shops for two days, the guys at Thurston County Transmission were able to be everybody’s price and offer a lifetime Warranty!! The friendliness and service are far above any other shop I have ever been to. They have earned a life time customer from me. Thanks for everything Guys!!

best transmission shop!

I drive a 2005 dodge with over 135,000 miles on it. I WISH I would have found Thurston County Transmission sooner. I'm sure I would have saved myself a lot of time and money! Larry happens to be a Transmission expert, so I got very lucky there! He has advised me on several things outside of just transmission work. The guys at Thurston County Transmission really do go above and beyond. They are very knowledgeable, professional, and trustworthy!, I can't tell you how much it means to find a shop where they are more concerned with your safety than just taking your money!

My Friend in Need

I have always done business with Thurston County Transmission over the years, and I have a elderly friend who was in need of work done to her van. I brought it in one day to be checked out, which there was no charge to diagnosis the vehicle, awesome, thank you for that. After having the van checked out they were able to fix what needed to be done that day and get her on her way. This is her only way of transportation because it's her handicap van. We both appreciate the dedication the staff showed and the ability to get her taken care of in a timely manner, and do a quality job! All my referrals will always be to Thurston County Transmission for automotive needs.

I called Thurston County Trans...

I called Thurston County Transmission when my transmission went out on my 2001 Jaguar XJ8. After speaking with Larry and reading the positive reviews I decided to give them a shot. I knew that the dealer ship would be too much money, and the "dealer" alternative shops are in the same orbit despite their claims otherwise. Long story short, they came and drove car to the shop (it was in "safe mode"), ran a diagnostics on my error codes and asked permission, before charging me anything, to pull the transmission out for inspection of damage. After telling me the cost for pulling it, I gave them the ok and they were right in their diagnostics. Here is the best part, Larry gave me a quote that was much less than what I was expecting and then had the transmission rebuilt and ready in three days. We have been driving it for two weeks, I cannot recommend Thurston County Transmission enough for their integrity and ability and value! And Life Time Warranty

Saved me money and awesome job!

Larry and the guys at Thurston County Transmission are simply the best. My BMW 745i was giving me the blues, numerous errors, jerky gear shifting. Initially diagnosed as a TCM(transmission control module) problem with a cost of $3500.00 I was ready to park it. Larry and his guys checked it out and repaired my car at a cost of less than 25% of the $3500.00 original estimate. Thank you Larry. Thanks to the guys at general repair shop for recommending you guys. Saved me a lot of money. Very Happy!

Very Incompatent, Watch Out

I had a problem shifting into reverse and they diagnosed it as a transmission problem. They also told me I had to replace my Radiator. A few days after visiting them my clutch's hydraulic went out and I had to tow it to a reputable mechanic. The problem was in the clutch itself, not the transmission. The radiator checked out just fine. These guys don't have a clue to their work and play on customer's lack of knowlege to get work.

Appreciative in every way

The lifetime warranty that I have on my automatic transmission thru TCT has been the best invest on my truck, I have kept up with the regular maintenance intervals as required and this warranty has proven itself to be worth everything I have spent on it. My engine decided to go on me so I have had to replace that recently and my transmission still runs strong. I was required to bring the truck back after I had a new motor put in to make sure all was working good. I know TCT is the place for all my future vehicle work, kudos to this business.

Thankful

Went Out of their way to serve us

Glad to see that there are still honest, friendly, family businesses out there. On our way thru town heading back to Ca, we thought what we had was a transmission problem. They looked it over, on their lunch time, determined our catalytic converter had failed. We unhooked our camper in their lot, went to get that repaired and got back on the road within hours. There was no charge for their service and I commend them on their FRIENDLY, FAMILY service. Paul & Clare- CA

Great Staff & Service

I would like to thank ALL the staff for the kind and generous service that was given to me while having my vehicle worked on at their shop. I am a widowed woman and have to trust whomever I am dealing with for whatever reason. Lori and Wayne went above and beyond to help with rides and kept me updated on what was being done to my car. I definetly will recommend my friends and family for any future auto repair work that they will need, Kudos to this business and their professionalism, it's outstanding! :0)

Great shop, nice people

I was traveling to a show in my classic pickup and developed a serious transmission leak. I pulled in to their shop and they dropped what they were working on to help me. They had me back on the road in less than one hour for under $100 dollars. Thank you so much for your great service.

Only ones to really stand behind their work!

Thurston County Transmission is the only transmission shop that I have ever heard of that guarantees their rebuilds for the life of the vehicle, and even allows 1 transfer! I had the transmission in a minivan rebuilt by them (minivan transmissions are notorious for rapid failures after rebuilds) and we put almost 100K miles on that tranmission before the vehicle was wrecked in an accident.
