Dr. Larson joined Vision Park in June 2018 and practices full scope optometry with emphasis in pediatrics and contact lenses. Primary Care
In 2004, Dr. Billings was named Young Optometrist of the Year by the Iowa Optometric Association. She is the Iowa Chairperson for Vision USA and is a member of the Iowa Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, and is past President of Des Moines Junior Women’s Club. She was second runner-up for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Woman of the Year in 2006. She also serves as Past-President (2010) of the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Summit Group, and served as chairperson of several committees in the Urbandale Chamber of Commerce. Dr Billings completed her Fellowship in the College of Vision Development in 2018. In addition to primary care, contact lenses, ocular disease and vision therapy, Dr. Billings specializes in sports vision training. She trained under Dr. Don Teig who provides sports training for the New York Mets, New York Rangers and Team USA Volleyball.

Glaucoma
Your eye doctor will first determine your overall eye health and vision. This includes a discussion of your health history and then a series of standard eye tests. These tests will evaluate eye focusing, eye teaming, depth perception, color vision, peripheral vision, and the response of your pupils to light. The doctor will also measure your eye’s fluid pressure to check for glaucoma, evaluate your retina and optic nerve, and test your vision with different lenses to assess whether contact lenses can improve your vision.
Macular Degeneration
Dr. Muller attended Iowa State University and received her doctor of optometry degree in 1993 from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. She joined Vision Park in April 1994 and specializes in low vision, glaucoma and ocular disease. Dr. Muller has published articles on low vision aids and age-related macular degeneration. Her greatest joy in practice is helping patients of all ages achieve sharper, clearer vision.
Laser Eye Surgery
While LASIK surgery has a very high success rate, there are vision complications and symptoms that sometimes remain. Night vision after LASIK, in particular, can sometimes give you side effects such as glare or halos around lights. RGPs are often effective in helping with these side effects and restoring clear vision.
Cataracts
Your optometrist or low vision specialist can recommend specialized lens tints for certain conditions such as retinitis pigmentosa or cataracts, which enhance vision or reduce light sensitivity.

Because maintaining good eye health is an ongoing partnership, we encourage you to ask questions and share your health information, which could be vital to monitoring, diagnosing and treating potential vision problems.

Autism
Dr. Triebel joined Vision Park Family Eye Care in 1991 after graduating from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry. She specializes in vision therapy for both children and adults and practices family eye care, which includes contact lenses. Dr. Triebel is a member of the Iowa and American Optometric Associations, the sports vision section, and is a fellow of the College of Optometrists in Vision Development. In 1999 Dr. Triebel was named Young Optometrist of the Year by the Iowa Optometric Association and served as its President in 2017. She takes a special interest in rehabilitative optometry, by lecturing and consulting for patients with traumatic brain injuries, concussions and autism.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
Vision development is often delayed in children on the autism spectrum or with pervasive developmental disorders (PDD), cerebral palsy and attention deficit disorder (ADD). The symptoms of ADD/ADHD and vision problems are very similar. In order to determine which symptoms are attributable to each condition, a functional vision evaluation should be performed and the vision problems must be eliminated. Vision therapy, glasses or both help children build their visually integrated sensory skills for better learning and function in day to day activities.

Diabetic Retinopathy
Among the leading causes of low vision are heredity, eye injury or brain injury, or eye diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, or retinitis pigmentosa. Depending on the severity and type of vision impairment, the patient may have some useful vision. Typically the impairment includes a significant reduction in visual acuity to worse than 20/70, hazy, blurred vision, blind spots or significant visual field loss and tunnel vision. Sometimes the extent of vision loss is considered to be legal blindness (20/200 or less visual acuity in the better eye) or almost total blindness.
