We had a code 84 High Pressure Lockout (in the heat cycle) in our Carrier Heat Pump a year ago. Tech came out and replaced a capacitor, but it was already into spring so we didn't find out that it didn't work until next winter. We called in December and the tech came out again and did tests and didn't find the problem. He said he would check with other techs and call us back with info. After a few weeks I called and asked for status. Clerks relayed the message to tech. Called a few weeks later as no response to first call. Same routine. Called again and still no response. In March we had a new tech come out and he said that the filters needed changing. I changed and the next day, same problem. Called again and the original tech came out with an expert who diagnosed a bad valve. Part on order and came a few weeks later. Part replaced in late April so no cause to test the heating function. Will have to wait to next winter to see if this fixed the problem.
