Spoke to and bought a new dryer from Bobby Slyman this past Nov 2. I've bought so many appliances here in the last 28 years from this location. He was accommodating and very cordial as he always is. I wish Sharon at the delivery center were as nice. She was rather curt and abrupt when dealing with her to arrange delivery. I went back to Bobby and he ironed out the wrinkles and guaranteed the delivery. And that's exactly how it happened. The guys came today and delivered, installed and left me a happy customer with a working dryer. They were exceedingly polite and efficient. Thanks Bobby!
We just remodeled our kitchen for the first time. We have a young family so we are on a tight budget. I was recommended by my contractor to try Slyman Brothers. I was also recommended Slyman Brothers from a lot of my neighbors. We are new to the city so we weren't confident that a smaller business would be able to compete with the Home Depot, Lowes, Sears, HH Gregg, etc. We priced out the entire Kitchen Aid set before going to Slyman Brothers in the city. We spoke with Bobby. He assured me that he guarantees the best price and service in town. We told him which appliances we were most interested in. He too recommended them. In fact he was able to inform us so much more than any other place we have been. We were definitely confident in the choices of the appliances and after Bobby gave us their package discount which included free delivery and take away of our old we were confident that Slymans would be our appliance dealer. Not only did he save us $400.00 compare to the closest bid he was also able to get us $500 factory rebates that no other place even informed us of. I am now a believer. These guys are the real deal and after realizing they are approaching their 50th year in business I'm obviously not the only believer.
The best place for Appliances in St. Louis. They beet all the big box stores and also I was able to get a better price on a new in box washer and dryer then Appliance Discounters which were selling them for more and they had defects.
Plus Slyman Bros free delivery is always a plus.
I bought an inexpensive kitchen set from them. They were pleasant and the price was fair. When it arrived, though, one of the items was damaged--fairly severe cosmetic damage--on one corner. They proceeded to install it without asking me first, perhaps assuming that I had purchased it that way, since they do sell scratch and dent sometimes. I noticed it just in time before they left! But when I made a comment, the delivery people only remarked first that it wouldn't show, being a back corner, and then that it must have happened en route to my home, and simply suggested I call and ask for a rebate. It turned out the handle on the other item was broken, not easily seen (to be fair) . They did replace it quickly, but ordered the wrong item. In the end, they sent the right one, and were always pleasant. It could be sheer coincidences--3 at once. They are a family business, do have a solid reputation, or so they said, and have been around in the same location for many years. However: I had another appliance needing repair, not one they sold me. They referred me to an allegedly trusted repair shop, one they knew well...which outright lied to me about a repair, and left me with an unrepairable ruined appliance when previously it had needed a repair but could be repaired. When I told Slyman about this, there seemed genuinely surprised, but not perturbed at all: They expressed only mild apology, and said that the shop was usually reliable, but added that they weren't in business together; they'd just given me a name and were sorry I'd had a bad experience. But actually, they DID recommend this repair person as reliable, well known to them and trustworthy, and gave me his card. I took what they said at face value, as a customer should be able to do: You recommend, then you are putting your company's name on the line, too, and if they make your customer unhappy, you should do what needs to be done to restore your good name; even if it's just apologize profusely, yell at your associate business to make good, and (depending on how bad it is) even break association with the other business, maybe add perhaps some other minor thing like a discount on future purchases, or free smaller repair. As it was, a late-model non-working appliance (freon leak) became unrepairable junk (recirculating system destroyed, no longer just leaking!).
Reputable family-owned/operated business. Friendly staff. Enough selection to have choices, not too big though. I found my fridge at another location for a few dollars less and they were true to their word with the 'price-match' with no hassle. I'll keep going back to this business.
We just recently bought a house and got all new appliances. Slyman Brothers kept their word and beat the lowest prices we found. We were dealing with Bobby and he gave great service! The appliances were delivered on time, and the contracted installer that they sent did a great job!
