Certain fertility tests need to be performed either at our center, another center, or in one’s local hospital if possible. If planning on doing an IVF (in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer) cycle then a separate phone consultation of 20-30 minutes can be done to prepare for an IVF cycle and to have medications arranged for the cycle.

Family Practice
Dr. Andrew completed his family practice residency with an emphasis on Gynecology and Infertility at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He especially enjoyed his training in pelvic laparoscopy treating endometriosis and his rotations in infertility. His infertility training took on a greater personal meaning and importance as Dr. Andrew and his wife were experiencing problems conceiving their first two children. They know firsthand, from their own experience, the frustrations, invasive tests, procedures, and emotional roller coaster that come with infertility. Dr. Andrew and Kaylene have a beautiful family with four children. They enjoy spending time together traveling, hiking, canyoneering, rock-climbing, camping and scouting.
Male Infertility
ICSI is an In Vitro Fertilization procedure that is used to help overcome male infertility and can be used to help when a woman’s eggs cannot be easily penetrated by sperm.

Female Infertility
Female infertility can also be attributed to the age of a woman. Women were engineered to have children in their younger years, because as they get older, their eggs have been subject to their lifetime of environmental and natural aging damage. This damage to eggs significantly reduces their chances of conception in their mid to late 30’s and into their 40’s. They also begin to have much higher risks of miscarriages from chromosomal damage as well increase their risks of down’s syndrome and other malformations. On the other hand, fertility problems in men are associated with their sperm count, progression, viability and as they age, there is also an increase risk of genetic abnormalities. Generally, sperm disorders or complications make a man infertile. This is why tracking sperm through semen analysis, acrosome reaction test, kreuger strict criteria, sperm viability testing, etc. are important.

You are young and have a history of endometriosis that is rapidly progressing and want to assure you have good quality eggs or embryos for later pregnancies before your endometriosis damages or significantly reduces your oocyte pool (ovarian reserve)

Some miscarry early and are not able to maintain their pregnancy. Approximately 15% of all couples suffer from infertility.

Ultrasound
Bring your partner and the physician at East Bay Fertility Center will review your past fertility history, general medical history and review your symptoms with you. A brief exam and ultrasound are usually performed on your first visit. At that time an assessment of the factors causing infertility will be discussed and a plan developed to follow.

As often recommended by cancer specialist, we can help preserve your pre-chemotherapy or pre-radiation therapy fertility. You can set aside unaffected eggs, sperm, or embryos to enhance greater fertility for building your family following your chemo or radiation therapy.

People who will be facing chemotherapy or radiation therapy and want to preserve their best fertility prior to those treatments

Vasectomy
Percutaneous sperm aspiration or open testicular biopsy is available to obtain sperm from the male partner if he has had a previous vasectomy or if his vas deferens are blocked or missing. The collected sperm can be cryopreserved for future and/or used fresh with an in vitro fertilization/ICSI cycle.
