I was quite impressed with Sean as he inspected my house. Not only was he kind and friendly when he spoke with me on the phone, but he was patient. I am a young home buyer and know next to nothing when he comes to inspections. Sean took his time with me and explained himself thoroughly. He did not ask rushed or as if he has another place to be. Sean talked to me as if he were talking to his own family member, giving me suggestions and recommendations. Sean also put up with my many questions and my interruptions with my mom. Even my realtor commented that most home inspectors are good, but Sean caught a couple of things that she had never seen anyone mention. Impressive is the first word that comes to mind to describe this home inspection. We contacted Shield Inspections with only 2-day notice to conduct our inspection. Mr. Sean Kelly conducted a thorough inspection and gave us a walk-through in which he clearly explained the reports, readily answered our questions, and made himself available for future advice. Within a day of the inspection, he sent us a comprehensive report which clearly identified and explained each deficiency with supporting pictures and provided valuable background information for future reference. Additionally, he also gave us a professional binder with a hard copy of the report and a CD. This report was extremely valuable, and we were able to have the deficiencies repaired before closing, saving us several hundred of dollars in future repairs. Mr. Kelly was very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. We now have a peace of mind that we did not have concerning making this major purchase. Overall, the customer service was outstanding and we were very fortunate to have Mr. Kelly do our inspection. My wife and I are going through the home buying process for the first time and, not really knowing what to look for in an inspector, we couldn't have made a better choice than going with Sean! He arranged to meet so that it worked with our schedule, then spent over 4 hours going over the entire house with meticulous detail, offering tips and advice on things to look for along the way. Not knowing Sean before the inspection, what sold me on his service was the detailed inspection report provided a day or two after the inspection (I saw a sample report on his website). His dedication to what he does shows in both the amount of time he spends on the inspection itself and the neat, organized format of the inspection report.

Sean did our inspection Feb 4 2010 while it was pouring down rain, which is a bonus when you want to check for leaks and pooling.



He spent about 4½ hours and waited until I got off work to meet us and the realtor there to go over everything he found.

I didn't know much about the process, but after spending that time with him, if we ever move, I could almost inspect the next house myself, but I won't. I'll call Sean again.



The bound copy with photos, the CD with all the hi res photos, the emailed copy of the report, and the one on one time is well worth the price.



Bottom line is, you can't go wrong to have Sean do your inspection.

Very Professional.... Did not leave anything out, and saved us tons of time and money.... Definately worth every penny.... The only inspector that I would use....

First of all, the big take-away from this review is that I had an excellent experience with this company! I contacted Shield Inspections about the middle of a week, and they were able to conduct my inspection by the following Sunday. This part alone was very useful, as it gave me 5 full days left in my Option Period to query the sellers on repairs. I was able to step back and allow them to do their job as soon as I gave them my realtor's contact information. My busy training schedule would have made it difficult to organize and de-conflict the process, and Shield saved me that trouble. After they inspected the home, which took several hours, they worked up a full report, with photos as well as beneficial background information (on the reasons as to why and how something needed to be repaired). The great thing about it was that they emailed the report to me that same Sunday night! And Mr. Kelly, the owner, even called me to walk me through the inspection and help me understand the information. Finally, they provided me a warranty on the inspection. The customer service was overall outstanding. Mr. Kelly was not only knowledgeable and friendly, but also helpful. He assisted me in discerning which repairs could be put-off, which I could do myself, and which ones were major issues. I cannot say enough about the experience. My own understanding of the process is now much clearer, and will recommend him to anyone I can!

When I first read all the positive reviews I was skeptical that everyone could be so impressed by his work, but now I see why - after meeting with Sean you really want to let the world know how great he is. Since this was my first home inspection, I didn't have any other inspections to compare it to. However, I brought my father along with me who has been through numerous inspections and agreed Sean Kelly provided excellent service. He is incredibly knowledgeable and honest - if he's unsure of something, he researches it for you. I felt like I could ask him questions as if he were a friend who would be straight forward and honest. He's a father, too, so I knew he understood how important it was to my dad to know every detail he uncovered about the house. I didn’t know a whole lot about the things we covered but he was really able to explain things in a way that I now feel comfortable as if I know everything about my house. Based on his experience, he was able to compare my house to others in the area from the same age range. I also have to point out the incredible report he produced - it's practically an illustrated book on your home, easy to follow, comes with CD - so professional! Talking to him about his business you can tell he truly cares about doing a thorough job. His prices are beyond reasonable - he spent about 4 hours in the house and then reviewed everything with us for another 2 hours. $300 doesn't seem enough for crawling into spider infested crawl spaces and attics, but that's just my opinion! ;-)

Sean Kelly has recently inspected two condos for us as we have been looking for a commuter home in San Antonio. The first inspection led to us walking away because Sean identified structrual and other damage that we would have never known about until it was too late. The second inspection was just as complete as the first and we are awaiting our closing in a couple of weeks.



This is not our first home purchase but we have never had a home inspector like Sean. He really knows his business and generously shares his knowledge with the customer so that informed decisions can be made. He knows the current building codes and lets the customer know which items are not up to current code. He is good about indicating which items are cause for concern and which ones are just cosmetic.



Sean is sensitive to the time constraints of his customers and works to have the inspection done timely - in fact our first inspection was done on a Sunday!!



His pricing is fair considering the wealth of knowledge that is communicated to the customer and the "take-away" product - the printed report and CD (which we expect to refer to as we begin to make some minor repairs to our condo.)



We highly recommend Sean to do an inspection of any property you are considering. If we ever have the need for another inspection, our first call will be to Sean. We are confident that you will be as pleased with Sean Kelly and his service as we have been.

SEAN IS VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE OF WHAT HE DOES. HE GIVES EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE. WE HAD HIM INSPECT A 20YR OLD HOME THAT LOOKED BETTER THAN MOST NEW HOMES. HE EVEN TOOK THE TIME TO EDUCATE US ON HOW THINGS SHOULD WORK, AND THAT WAS VERY IMPORTANT, BECAUSE IT HELPED US TO MAKE A GOOD DECISION ON HOW WE SHOULD NEGOTIATE OUR CONTRACT WITH THE SELLER, IN WHICH MADE THE HOME BUYING DECISION A LOT EASIER. HE ALSO GAVE US A BINDER OF ALL HIS FOUNDINGS IN WHICH INCLUDED A CD AS WELL AS THE 90 DAY WARRANTY ON THE THINGS HE STATED ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, NOT TO MENTION THIS WAS ON TOP OF EMAILING US THE WHOLE REPORT. IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT YOU ARE GETTING INTO WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU CHOOSE SEAN!!!

As a first time home buyer the process of finding your home can be very difficult and overwhelming. It was great to have Sean as my home inspector. During the home inspection process he was very thorough, provided feedback to all questions and walked me through the importance of what he was looking for. The great service did not stop at that, he's reports, follow up's and availability are what make his service GREAT!

Sean did an excellent job in our home inspection. We were buying our first home and had no idea what to expect.
