Big Bear Lodge

I, like a few other reviewers, am quite surprised by the low rating this restaurant has gotten. I have been to big bear lodge on a number of occasions and have had perfect steaks, seafood, sides, even wonderful buffalo meatloaf. The service has never been less than outstanding, with many of the servers putting fresh rolls into our carry-out containers. Their steaks and burgers are never anything less than perfectly cooked.

We had our Wedding Dinner here service was not good, They took our orders for drinks and food, We waited 15 minutes for out drinks and another 15 minutes for our salads, then another 30 minutes for our meals and Then the waitress came out to see if it was ok to butterfly the filets to ensure that they were cooked properly, If you don’t know how to cook a steak without butterflying it you need to go to school to learn how to cook. When the food came out 7 out of 9 people had problems with their meal. One meal had sweet potatoes that were cold, they heated them up, and then they were scalding hot. My Herb Roasted Chicken was tough, pounded to about a quarter of an inch and had no flavor, Vegetables were cold and potatoes had cold spots. My new wife ordered Filet Mignon, Medium well, Center cut. It came out well done and charred. Twice. One other got the ostrich burger and it had cold spot as well, The Prime Rib had very large pieces of fat on it, never seen that much on a prime rib before. Our waitress also put a seafood platter in front of someone who luckily did not have a reaction to seafood. Then they only removed $38.00 of the bill of $155.00. Very poor service and very poor food. NEVER AGAIN WILL WE OR OUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS GO THERE AGAIN!

We had our son's wedding rehearsal dinner at the Big Bear Lodge and thought they did a great job for the price. On Halloween we went to dinner here for their prime rib special and thought it was the best prime rib we have had anywhere. The service was fast (once we were seated at our table) and the food was delicious, can't wait to go back for some more!

This restaurant has a neat atmosphere, all woodsy and decorated with bears. Although there are lots of people eating there I cannot see why. Ive eaten there three times, to give the food a chance, thinking maybe something else was good. Last night I ordered the whitefish dinner and calamari appitizer. The appetizer was $7.95, and like 15 pieces. It was ok. The fish had cream cheese and some cracker crumbs on top, on the side mashed potatoes and veggies. The fish tasted awful. I made a face with the first bite, potatoes I could have made better myself and the veggies weren't cooked all the way. Not to mention mixed drinks were $5. My boyfriends meal was a buffalo burger and fries, which he didnt like either. So two meals that tasted aweful, appetizer, 2 beers and 2 mixed drinks came to $50. We also had 3 different servers. They couldn't figure out who had the table. I will not go back there again. Thanks for reading.

I love the decor but the food is just allright. I probably would not go back again. I had the white fish and it was not that great.

My family enjoys the setting. It feels like you should be sitting next to a lake. Rustic and relaxed! We have been to the lodge a number of times and the food and service are always wonderful!! Friendly and clean...even the bathroom!
