When a car is damaged by an accident or weather, what can be repaired and what must be replaced? Or is it time to buy a new car?
No matter whether an accident involved a freshly licensed teen or an experienced driver, knowing what to do (or not do) is essential to bouncing back.
All it takes is a little preparation to get your car winter-ready and to keep from getting into an icy situation.
What is not to love about this place? After spending nearly a month searching for housing in Detroit, the staff of Parkstone were the only ones to treat me with professionalism and courtesy. I met with Nicole, the head of Leasing for the properties, (they have more than one) and to be honest, it is one of the reasons I chose to live here. I was warmly welcomed, was well-informed, and I left feeling like I was already part of their community. She spent over an hour with me telling me about their community, the history of the property, introduced me to tenants, and didn't make me feel rushed or pressured. What a difference from rushed meetings at other properties where you barely get a handshake and a smile - if even a return phone call! This place was truly a Godsend!I have been here for close to 3 months now, and love every tiny nook and cranny of this building and neighborhood. My neighbors were all so friendly and welcoming, and CraftWork right in the building is beyond awesome, making it easy to gather for cocktails after work. (Try their fish and chips - you won't regret it!)From Andrew the Superintendent to Keith their Property Manager, and even to Zenko (?), the owner, this place has mass charm and appeal. Not regretting my decision to move here one tiny little bit!!!
Wow Alden you were great for a whole six months. Hired a new security service full of young people that don't really ever know what's going on. we've been locked out of the laundry facility at night when the only people representing the building is the guards and was told they aren't allowed to give us the maintenance number since We should already have it. And they weren't going to call either. Thank God a fellow tenant walked by with the number. Although the maintenance guy never came. Then you let go of a great office staff that knew us and took very good personal care of us. We put a notice that we were moving and your new office staff have no records of it and were nasty over the phone blaming us for not getting a copy of it. Well shame on us for thinking you guys had any clue how to take over a business. what a mess. Everything from your new security service to your office is a mess. And your new manager never heard of the customers always right thing and was totally rude. I'm only giving you two stars because the building is so pretty. Glad we're leaving soon. Hope you get your stuff together soon. Probably shouldn't have changed everything so fast makes thinks difficult for clients.
"I own a 2007 Chevy Trail Blazer and in November for no apparent reason the Valve Spring broke on the top of the engine. I took the car to a repair shop and they did not have the ability to repair my car. They totally disassembled my car and then told me it would be too much work, not to mention they did not have the proper tools to do the repair in the first place... I called my sister and she said "" get your car from there now, and tow it to Maurice's shop"". I called Maurice' shop and was amazed that he w as open at 7:30 am. I explained to him what my issue was and he was professional , calm and said "" I can fix it"". I had been praying that I would find the right man to fix my engine and was so happy. Other shops I called earlier would not touch my car saying they had never done a repair like this because it was extensive work requiring removal of the the entire engine...Apparently, they were afraid of the work that would be involved. To make a long story short, Maurice Fixed my Valve Spring in one day, also he did not have to take the entire engine out of the car. I recommend Maurice' s shop to anyone that has a engine problem and want to be treated fair and honestly."

Reply to your scam...you brought your in a 2007 trailblazer for repairs under your warrant...your warranty company wanted to inspect your failures due to the dollar amount involved, your truck was inspected and a report sent to warranty, but someone "drove your truck" from its parked spot...Ther is absolutely no way for a 2007 trailblazer to be stolen without keys unless it is towed off...Detroit required the owner of the vehicle to file report, we sent someone to make a statement on the report you filed...what you were refused were the keys and you were told that you could view the camera...your warranty claim had to be canceled which the shop would have made money from, far more than what a stolen truck could possibly have been sold for. Your financing was through Credit Acceptance and they also use this tactic to repossess cars, I know this because we install the units that track there cars...if the unit was not active the call to the warranty which is owned by them would have told them where the truck was
Went to Unique Auto Care for the first time, and will never go elsewhere from now on for any other car services I need in the future. I got a car starter installed for my Honda CRV. Although, I didn't make an appointment and they were very busy when I got there, they accommodated their schedule to get the starter installed. It barely took an hour, and they have a nice, spacious waiting area for customers. They were very quick, efficient, and gave me the best quote in town. A very friendly and knowledgeable staff who makes it evident that customer satisfaction is their priority! They made sure I understood how to use the remote starter by demonstrating how it works, and answered any questions I had. I Highly recommend UAC to everyone for all their car needs.
Being new to town and, let's say, less that adept at auto mechanics, I panicked a little when my engine light came on and the need for a mechanic arose. After scouring online reviews for the best auto repair in Detroit, I ventured to Maurice's. Most mechanics and retailers in general would have tried to sell me as many products and services as possible to meet quota, not necessarily customer need. What happened, however, was quite the opposite. Maurice gave me a free diagnostic, informed me of my car's issues, and that they were in fact not urgent in nature. All he asked was that I return if this or any other issues arose again and, for this courtesy, I can honestly say I have and will continue to do so.
My vehicle was stolen in Detroit and when it was found it was recovered at LIJBS. When I went down to LIJBS to see my vehicle, the staff was very pleasant, polite, helpful, considerate, trust worthy, and respectful. The staff at LIJBS was very patient and took the time to walk me through the process that was next to handle with my insurance. I am forever grateful for this tow company and would definitely use them again for any of my tow needs. This tow company also was very professional, clean, organized, and not to mention their beautiful state of the art equipment. I was just completely ecstatic and would definitely recommend. This company was truly a blessing to me and my family.
I used to get diagnostic work done at Firestone for thoroughness, and then take it to a cheaper place for the work itself. Now I just go to University Auto, where they do the work right, and at a very reasonable price. Where Firestone wanted $650 for a big exhaust issue, University Auto got it done properly for about $200. Since then, it's the only place I go. There is a 20% off for new customers, so give that a shot. The guy who works the front desk, Ya Ya, is a real gem who takes pride in getting you in and out and served well. I'm really sorry for the people who had a bad experience. Again, I'm really surprised. Maybe Ya Ya is what has made the difference for me.
A shop you can trustMy friend has been taking his cars to Gus (the owner) for over 6 yrs. He recommended Unique auto care to me because I was taking my car to a mechanic that recently retired. I met Gus, a very nice and trustful man, a year ago and been going there since. I trust Gus because he does not and will not do repairs unless you absolutely needed to. He or his sons will never push to make a sale; they always make an honest recommendation and a time line on when the next things should be replaced. This is the place to go for your mechanical repairs. I always felt like family when am there. I give Unique auto care my highest recommendation.
There are more than 700,000 auto service technicians and mechanics in the U.S. Finding the right one to repair a dent in your car door or fix an engine that won't start can be overwhelming, especially when it's an emergency. Review a few important facts about auto repair professionals and what you can do to get the best possible mechanic working on your vehicle's issues for a fair price.
Looking For Reliability
Unlike home repair services that evaluate a property, meet with homeowners and have time to prepare before their physical work begins, auto repair businesses are often asked to make fixes on the spot. If you come into a garage with a tire issue, the expectation is the mechanic will know how to correct that problem quickly.
That is why reliability is so vital when searching for a trusted auto repair shop. It may take going to several different mechanics before you find one you are truly comfortable with. Pose questions to this professional to find out what approach they will take to repair your car or what alternatives are available. Shopping around also gives you the best opportunity to find the cheapest rate or the fastest service, as some garages may be backed up with other vehicles that need repair first.
A recommended way to locate a trustworthy auto repair professional is to seek out customer reviews. Online sites offer honest opinions from real customers who have used a business. Read through this feedback to learn how a business operates and what you can expect if you were to take your vehicle there. Look for reviews about how quick maintenance was completed and if prices were fair. By learning what other people have said about a garage, you can gain a better idea if it's the right place to go when you have a car problem in need of fixing.
It can be difficult to know which automotive problems are serious enough to require expert assistance. A ripped seat cushion or broken radio don't involve safety and will not warrant enough of a problem that going into a garage is required. However, setbacks with brakes, lights and other parts that are vital to the safety of your car's driver and passengers, as well as others on the road, necessitate quick fixes. Many modern automobiles will notify drivers of an issue, in the form of a signal on the dashboard or a noise within the vehicle.
In the event of an accident, even if your vehicle does not appear to have any damage on the outside, it is generally recommended that you see a trusted auto repair professional. Internal damage may have occurred, or an important part may have been knocked out of place. Fixing these issues before driving much further can prevent further vehicle breakdowns in the future. In the case of a serious accident, a body shop can assess the problems and determine the best course of action for repairs, as well as evaluate how much they will cost.
Beyond that, regular checkups are recommended. Tires must be rotated, fluids needs to be replaced and the engine must be evaluated. After driving 25,000 miles, most auto dealers suggest having the vehicle checked out to ensure everything is running smoothly. Taking the car into the auto repair professional you trust will protect you from further problems down the road.
Not every type of auto repair work needs to be done by a certified mechanic. You can fix some of a vehicle's issues just by paying attention to how the automobile is running and having a basic understanding of auto repair. Look over the ways weather may impact your car and what preventative measures you can take to avoid having to take it into the shop. At the same time, be aware of mechanic scams that can impact your experience.
Preventing Trips To The Professional
Some fixes to your car can be done without paying a specialist. Issues like replacing oil and air filters are relatively simple, with instructions provided in the owner's manual on how to make these changes. The same goes for replacing broken windshield wipers or burnt-out headlights. Such issues should be repaired quickly to guarantee safety, but don't require a visit to a garage. By handling these types of tasks on your own, you'll gain a better understanding for how your car operates and save time and money.
Along with understanding how to fix manageable vehicle issues that may arise, taking preventative measures to avoid future problems is a valuable time saver. Many problem-solving best practices are related to the seasons. Your vehicle will be in different conditions in the winter than in the summer, meaning it requires a different type of preparation.
In the spring and summer, you want to be sure your air conditioner and cooling systems work correctly. Given the high temperatures the vehicle will be exposed to, overheating is a common problem. Look over the system by ensuring there is enough coolant available. If it needs to be refilled, it is best to open the hood and add more to the car before it gets too warm out. Also, clean out fan ducts and other ventilation sources necessary for summertime driving.
For winter driving, features such as the defroster, heater and exhaust system are paramount. Look in your owner's manual for specific directions on how features should be checked and repaired. Many newer cars have a cabin air filter that can be replaced when needed, allowing warm air to continue to flow in. Also, check your tires before winter driving, as they need to be at the proper pressure to perform well on snow and ice.
There is a common worry among many people that auto repair professionals take advantage of the general public. Because so many people are unaware of how to fix the problems in their vehicle, they are nervous of being overcharged by mechanics or worried that the improper work is being done.
While the great majority of professionals in the industry are honest, hard-working people, a few bad apples can ruin everything. You should be extra careful when first visiting a mechanic to guarantee that the price you're charged and maintenance the vehicle receives are fair.
Among the common scams pulled are needless repairs, where a garage charges you for work that isn't necessary. Another popular one is attracting customers through a cheap oil change or tire pressure check. Then, when you are in the shop and your car is being repaired, they give you a long list of other corrections they'd like to make, therefore boosting the total cost of your bill.
The best way to combat these types of problems is getting a written estimate before work is done. That way, you can see how much repairs are expected to cost. If the final bill is higher than the estimate projected, ask to specifically see the work. Make sure information is put in writing as well. If a problem remains, you can have proof that work was not done to your satisfaction.
By working closely with an auto repair professional and doing some of the tune-up work on your own, you will be less likely to fall for these scams. At the same time, you'll be able to drive out with a clean and healthy vehicle, thanks to the repairs made by a trained professional.
