Anderson Tobin, PLLC

I contacted Anderson Tobin regarding my case about a year and a half ago. My old landlord took us to court because we sold our business and the new owners didn't or couldn't transfer the lease to their name. I talked to Aaron Tobin on the phone and explained my situation and he said "yeah, I think you have a case". He also said that he will let one of his junior lawyers to help me so I can save some money. He will work closely with her on my case. He also needs a $5000 deposit upfront. I asked if I can get some of the money back if I don't use it all. After pausing for 2 seconds he said yes definitely. His junior lawyer, which I think she's still an upfront person, asked for the lease so she can review it. The lease is about 100 pages long. After reading through the lease, requesting discoveries, and doing paper work. The $5000 was charged up quickly because the junior lawyer charges $245 an hour or so. They keep billing me for "reviews". We haven't step in court and I owe them an extra $9000 already. After a few months of reviewing the lease and sending discoveries back and forth. They also charge me for every minute I went to their office and talk to her. She gave me some choices: negotiate with the landlord, forfeit the case, or move forward and go to court. I said I would like to fight until the end because it's not my fault. She said it's a pretty clear cut case and she doesn't think I have a shot in court. The only time that we have gone to court is for us to sign a release letter. I had to ended up filing Bankruptcy because the landlord sued us for $9000 and I owe Anderson Tobin $12,000. This might be the normal practice for lawyers, and I just never dealt with them before to know. They could have told me that I don't have a case after reading the lease and I could have saved $2500 or so. Unbelievable and how can Aaron Tobin genuinely talks ethic with his kids later. He will obviously lies to his customers.
