This shelter needs to be shut down... We took our 8 month old blue nose pit bull puppy there the reason being we did not have the money to a trainer to train her she was just a little hyper and she was jumping on us you know how dogs get all happy to see you she wasn't aggressive she just needed training we are a family of 5 it's my partners mom, me, my partener and our two children and my partner recently lost her job I'm disabled I suffer from ptsd as well as bipolar the reasons for us getting the puppy was to have her be a service dog for me ..we could never get things on the same page in the house with her we each had our own way of how things should be with her so that in turn caused her to be confused my partner and I tried everything we reached out to many places before this even crossed our minds and the only reason this nasty place did is because our Vet yes our vet told us that we needed to get her trained well she wasn't telling us something we didn't know but however our puppy was jumping and like I said being hyper not agressive I mean come a 8 month old puppy the vet told us that we could do the prison thing where they train the dog and give her back like 2 mins later she was like no the prison thing will not work out for her so we was like you just said then the last thing she said was you need to give her to another family that can have her trained cause it cost thousands of dollars so me and my partner thought maybe she does need another family even know we are a awesome loving family but just could not afford it my incom is only 488.00 there's no way we could ever afford that not with two kids so we thought and God was we ever wrong ok maybe she is right so we took her to the humane society thinking they could help find the perfect home for our SaphireThat's her name the hardest thing ever because we love her such a awesome puppy so smart and she sure made me feel safe I suffers a lot of nightmares due to my ptsd she slept in the bed with us and very often mt partner wakes me from a nightmare cause I'm crying or screaming well my Saphire would come and lick my face to wake me and then she would lay next to me with her head on my pillow I felt so safe with her there it's been really hard the last few nights with out her.. We took her thinking they would help they put her to sleep less then an hour of her being there the reason we found this out is because we changed our mind and went back to get her the next day we just couldn't bare being with out her so my partner and I waited almost 8 hours for them to open and when it was time for them to open at 8 am it took them a little after 8 to open we then went And told them we changed our mind and we would figure out a way to have her trained and we had been crying the whole time she was gone and so then they ask for her name and we could see it in there face something wasn't right it was bad we knew it they freaking put her to sleep we couldn't believe it our hearts broke that hurt so bad ...I want to know why they KILLED her that same day.. These people should be euthanized.... WHY hurt something so beautiful.. WHY... God knows and sees everything u guys do..you will have to answer to him....they told me they cremated her like two days ago tell me why she wasn't cremated until today please please people if you know anyone that can help us get justice for SaphireShe didn't deserve to die because she was hyper I thought it was a no kill shelter they did much more to our family I've been crying the whole time while writing this it's making me very sad to talk about her but I have to let everyone know about our baby dog everyone should know who she is and help us seek justice for her death.. Thank u
This group currently advertises being a no kill shelter but does euthanize based on behavior. Problem is their behaviorist does not know how to assess and this group should work more with outside rescues to save dogs instead of killing them.
I like the place it is clean and cheap to get dogs and cats.
I recently asked an Irish Wild Hound named Winnie from here and she is super sweet, she has some anxiety issue but the friendly staff helped me understand all my options to help her. Winnie will be a lifetime friend, thank you.
It's a great rescue with really nice people....however they charge around $300 for one dog. This made me angry because if you are all about the dogs then why would you charge someone $300 for a dog that desperately needs a home. I understand that they only want people who can afford to keep the dogs, but even middle class families can afford to comfortably take care of a dog, but that is still a lot of money.
Adopted my cat, Opie, from HCH and it was such a pleasant experience... especially in comparrison to the shelter I got my other cat from. HCH was clean, roomy and well equiped to house the cats in their care. The staff was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and encouraged us to take a class on "play training" with our kitty. We've had him for 6 months now and couldn't imagine not having him. Go and adopt a new best friend!
