I've been going to Mel for several years now for my hair. I change my hair pretty drastically and very often and I've now gotten to the point with Mel where I'll give her a general idea of what I'm looking for (leave it long or cut it off) and let her do the rest. She's great at anticipating what I may or may not like, remembering the colors that worked well on me and can do wonders with my very tricky hair. My hair is fine, but I have a ton of it and it's straight but has a random wave at my neck that very few stylists haven't managed to completely screw up. I love my hair every time I leave there and get a lot of compliments on it. She's even somehow managed to keep my hair in great shape regardless of how many drastic changes I decide to make with the color! I happily recommend Mel to friends and have never heard anyone disappointed with her service. I even got my boyfriend to go to her and she did a great job on his hair as well! Since Kieu has come on board I decided to try getting a manicure with her. I have previously gone to another local salon for their shellack treatment, but wanted to give Kieu and the Gellish treatment a try. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO SHELLACK! Gone are the days of sitting at the bar at the nail place drinking wine through a straw because my hands had to sit under the UV lamps for another 10 minutes before they were dry. I always get a french manicure and I got really sick of the shellack either chipping or cracking and I haven't experienced that with the Gellish at all. My nails have gone 3 weeks looking perfect with the exception of the growth. Kieu takes her time and does a wonderful job with the manicure. The environment in the salon is homey and relaxing. They offer water, coffee, wine, beer and a great selection of magazines to browse through. So far, I've loved the products that Mel has used on me. The shampoo chairs are so much more comfortable than ones I've been in previously and Mel's scalp massages are to die for! Overall its a great location and I can't wait to see what other services they will have to offer!
I live half an hour away from this salon, without traffic. If I could find a closer salon that came even close to its quality, I would go there instead. No other hair salon has been able to take my home chemist personality and difficult, wavy, thin hair and do anything useful with it. Colouring: My stylist calls me the home chemist. One time, I went a little crazy and bleached my locks too soon after dyeing it BACK from bleaching. This was the day before my graduation. The color was bright yellow. They fit me in as an emergency fix, gave me a sandy blonde colour to patch up the botched job, and even left some highlights in to give it dimension. This was with minimal attention, because the colourist actually had another client at the same time, and it still turned out perfectly. My mother has gotten a lot of styling jobs from the same salon, and hers always turn out looking very natural, while masking the grey that's starting to come in. I've seen other colouring jobs that were on the other side of the spectrum--very bold and startling--too, so I would say they have an acceptable range. Styling: I have switched hairdressers a few times; they all have distinct point of view, which sometimes means that the styling wasn't quite how I wanted. I'm VERY low-maintenance, and I've been going to Michelle down at the Arboretum branch for that reason. Before her, I was going to Anthony up at this branch, and he is GREAT, just his hair styles are more for someone who is willing to put in a little work, and I'm a college student. With that said, though, I've had everything from a super short cut to bangs to long, layered hair, and they've done a great job with each. The price range for stylists starts at about $35, and that's mostly for people just starting out at the salon. They're all trained well, however, and I've had two beginning stylists with no problem. The people there are very friendly and receptive, and they always offer beverages and have good magazines for the waiting room, not to mention the comfy seats. :]
I recently got my first spray tan at Vanity Glo salon and loved it!!! I was to be in a wedding in two days and had lost most of my summer tan and needed more color. The bride and all of the bridesmaids went to the salon and all were sprayed. Zoe sprayed me with the color that best matched my skin and hair color. I wanted a natural tan and that’s exactly what I got. My spray tan turned out even and matched perfect. I made the decision to never use tanning beds last year when my sister discovered she had skin cancer at the age of 22. I love to be tan year round and was always scared to be sprayed but now I am able to be tan year round with Vanity Glo Salon. Zoe has a client for life with me. Thanks for making me GLO!!! Hannah made me look beautiful for my friend’s wedding. She did my makeup perfect!!! I asked for a natural look and her suggestion for eyes. Hannah made my eyes look great and the colors she used made my blue eyes shine ; ) She also gave me great skin care advise that I have been trying for about two weeks now and has helped with some redness on my cheeks. Thanks Hannah!!!!! Tatum was my hair stylist for the wedding I was in and I loved my look. I was first in the hair chair at 9 A.M. I wanted curls with half of my hair pulled up. I got exactly what I asked for. My curls stayed in full from 9 A.M. until the next morning. Thanks Tatum!!!!
VANITY GLO ROCKS!!!! I have never spray tanned before & I was referred to Vanity Glo by a friend. I was hosting a party & needed some coloring so I thought Id give it a try & they were sweet enough to squeeze me on short notice; gotta love that! 1st let me say I loved the spa; its cute & got a shabby chic feel to it. I was greeted by 2 smiling girls named Tatum & Catherine. Tatum went over the procedure & what to do & what to NOT do (I was fearful of looking like Chester the cheetah;) She was super nice & I she made me feel completly comfortable & by the time I knew it ... I was glo'N! #smiles =) & i could tell right away; I love that part; its INSTANT! it was even & no streaks & no signs of Chester LOL I have since been back & gotten to meet sweet sweet Zoe; super friendly & professional & I always leave feeling AMAZING with this awesome tan. I like it so much that I have referred my mother & aunt who are going this week. So excited to have this in Charlotte & in my neighborhood at that! Def will tell my friends about it. I also want to try out some of the spa accomidations. I cant wait to go back - i should probably call & make an apt with Zoe now! she ROX! go get ya glo ON!
I was in need of a hair makeover; but didn't really have an idea of what I wanted. I was ready for a new perspective from the hairdresser I had been seeing for years. When I read a review of 8 the Salon; it described exactly what I was looking for- they assess your features and match your hair style to compliment or bring out your best possible looks with the capabilities of your own hair type. I called to schedule an appointment and found the staff to be very congenial and was able to get an appointment scheduled to fit the timeframe I requested without any hesitation. When I arrived, I found the salon was immaculate, and the staff very personable-everyone was smiling and upbeat, they spoke to the guest and each other with respect- very professional. Brittani was my stylist she explained why my features needed the types of hair styles that we can consider and then taught me how to style the cut, and suggested the products to maintain the style. I am thrilled with the style; and my hair is cut according to its natural tendency to fall, so IT JUST LOOKS GREAT! I can't remember when I have been this happy with my hairstyle. I give 8 the Salon my highest recommendation, I can't say enough for the staff and Britanni in particular- they are the best!
Richard was highly recommended to me by a friend after I moved here from California. He is as talented as anyone in Beverly Hills! Truly knows how to cut (dry "so you can see how your hair moves") and my color went from a flat honey blonde to a shiny, multi-dimensional blonde bombshell! I felt like a movie star walking out of that salon! Watching him cut your hair is like being in the hands of an artist/sculpter. You will NOT be disappointed with your cut and color. When you sit in that chair, and Richard listens, analyzes, and creates your best look, you are indeed investing in yourself, so it is nice to know that you really get your money's worth! The salon is comfortable (separate area/room) for each stylist) and the staff are so friendly (coffee, cookies, water?) Prices are competitive and well worth it. I took my college-daughter to the salon for a cut ... Richard immediately showed her the buildup on her never-colored hair; it was full of waxy, heavy conditioners, and needed a thorough cleansing. He used a clarifying shampoo and rinsed her hair to a glossy silk! He cut beautiful layers throughout her thick hair, and she walked out of there with that "Kim Kardashian" cut she wanted!
I have had the pleasure of having Zoe spray me several times. I had huge reservations before my first visit, but she assured me that I would look natural and natural is exactly how I looked when I was done! The Spa itself is immaculate and everyone there is extremely professional and curteous. I was a bridesmaid in a wedding recently and Hanna did all of our make-up the day of the wedding. She not only did the absolute best job of meeting everyone's expectations (and picky each of us were!), sge was extremely professional and gave us awesome makeup tips throughout the day. She was a pleasure to spend the day with and you can tell she loves skin care and doing what she does. Our makeup lasted all day and all night without looking "overdone." Tatum did our hair for the same wedding. Each of us wanted different styles/looks and she too met all of our expectations perfectly! She too was extremely professional, curteous and sweet. Spending the day with her was a complete pleasure. All of our hair lasted the entire day and well into the night! I most definitely will go to Glo Spa for all of my future spray tanning, skin care and hair styling needs and you should too!!
Absolutely AMAZING! Words simply can’t describe how pleased I am from my spray tan from Vanity Glo. Safe tanning has always been important to me and I have found my new addiction!! The experience was fantastic- I met the owners Zoe and Tatum and they were so knowledgeable, kind and helpful! They answered every question that I had and assured me that I would be thrilled. At first, I was a bit skeptic due to my bad experiences with airbrush and mystic tans but it was a completely different experience. I walked out of there with such a beautiful and natural bronze color tone; I had to do a double take in the mirror at how good I looked! I will never go anywhere else to get my “GLO” on again. I just want to thank Zoe and Tatum for such a pleasurable experience. I have referred all of my friends there and they have nothing but great things to say as well. If you are looking for a safe and all natural and stunning GLO then there is no other place that tops Vanity Glo! Also, they have great specials and are reasonably priced compared to some other spray tanning places I researched. They are between $10-$20 dollars cheaper than other placed located in Charlotte and are by far the BEST!
I'm really shocked by the previous reviews and that's putting it mildly! I have been going to My Day Spa for 6 years now and I've always had AMAZING service! Before coming to My Day Spa, I tried out half a dozen nail spas in the area and even got a fungal infection from one...Jay (the owner) knew exactly what to do and it healed rather quickly. I have been to this salon at every possible hour of the day and every day of the week and I'm always pleased with my service. I've NEVER seen any kind of discrimination going on and I'm always a walk-in customer so it's not like they're on their 'best behavior' because I'm there. I would recommend My Day Spa to anyone/everyone and wouldn't hesitate for a moment in doing so! I've been fortunate enough to get to know the owners as people and I gladly call them friends!!! Btw, I've had acrylic/gel nails for 20 years now so I've been through my fair share of salons and they're one of the best! To anyone who has had bad service, give them another chance because everyone has their off days =)
This was my first trip to Yvelisse's Salon and I loved it! I recently moved to Charlotte and was concerned about finding a new hair salon to care for my natural hair. My last hair stylist pressed my hair with the old fashioned hot comb and hot flat iron (not the ceramics, but the ones that actually go on the hotbed). She advised me to try a Dominican shop after I moved, so I did. My mother suggested I try Yvelisse's and I was able to walk right in to have my blow-out done within an hour, but it was on a Tuesday. The salon itself is beautiful and I was greeted and treated kindly from the moment I walked in! I would have given them 5 stars, but I felt the services were a little more costly than what I'm used to. I paid $55 for a wash, condition (I got the $5 one), blow-out and my ends trimmed. Yvelisse actually gave me the conditioning for free, so it would have been $60. However, I will definitely go back because my hair looks and feels wonderful! I would definitely recommend this salon!
