So, sad to say it was bad, bad, and more bad when we visited. The food tasted burnt, every course. I am Sicilian. Raised in New York, summers with family in Sicily. I have been culinary school. From the stock of chefs. Even married one. This is not like any Italian food I've ever had. The sauce tasted like it came from the can. The prosciutto was nothing more than deli ham. The meat was overcooked, rubbery. The ambience left a bit to be desired. It was so dark we could barely see. It also smells like grease in the entire place, restrooms included. We brought to attention to things that weren't that great to the waitress, but she didn't seem too concerned. She was actually pretty crass about it. This isn't the worst place I've ever had a talion, but it certainly isn't the best. I'm guessing it's some southern take on Italian? No matter what it is, it certainly wasn't that good. Sad, I had hoped we would have an enjoyable evening.

Sorry but I have had great Italian Food and this just didn't impress...Limited seating...Limited portions...Not short on price though!!!Don't mind paying for good food or quantity but this misses the mark...PS... May be the owner out meeting and greeting but he needs to get the order correct over being cute.
I love south of philly. I've only ever got their pizza (which is incredible) but today I got a salad with grilled chicken, quite honestly the best salad I've ever had! And the monkey zepps...that caramel tho!
if i could put zero stars i would. first they are never never busy with good reason. my parents took me and my wife out to eat and celebrate my birthday. went there ordered our food and drinks. not bad so far. breadsticks came so hard I could use it as a hammer. the tomato sauce was bland. and then OF ALL THINGS..... there was hair in my food. Took forever to get the waitress over and then she said she would comp my meal. Got the bill and she only comp half the meal. she arugued with us so we paid the bill and left. save your money go somewhere else.
Wanting to take my husband out for Veterans Day, we made reservations at Pan E Vino. Pan E Vino changed owners a little while back and the management/customer service is unbelievably terrible. We showed up five minutes late for dinner at Pan E Vino at which point we waited five minutes behind another group before the manager could be bothered to meet us. He sat the group waiting in front of us after establishing that we had 830 reservations. While waiting for the manager to return, three young women walked in. Upon returning, the manager collected menus, pushed us out of the way, hugged the women, and seated these new comers right away. Now, we had been waiting twenty minutes at the front of the restaurant for our reserved seats. Furious, we decided to leave after informing the manager that we had been waiting long enough and we did not appreciate being rudely bypassed by the a group of newcomers. We then walk out the restaurant. At this point, the manager stands at the door and starts yelling, ranting, and swearing at my husband "I'm going to F-you up!" He stands at the door screaming swear words, drunkenly slurring, and threatening to fight us as we were trying to walk away. A waitress had to call him back into the restaurant after he started loosening his tie.
Spent the weekend in Charleston and made reservations ar Trattoria Lucca on Friday evening for 6 PM. We left one and half hrs later with out getting our dinner. Two tables next to us came later and had finished they meal and we were still waiting. So I just left left payment on the table for our drinks and appetizers and left. We were very dissappointed.
What happened? We have been going there for years & although it has never been fancy or a 4-star restaurant - - it had been above average. Went tonight (May 19, 2012) and what a disappointment. Got there at 6:00 & ordered our “usual” - - lasagna. Waiter came back & said they were out of lasagna. No lasagna @ 6pm on a Saturday night at an Italian restaurant?!?!? He left menus with us again & was gone about 7-10 minutes - - saw him standing in kitchen just talking to other staff & pretty much ignoring us. Settled for the Baked ziti - - tasted like Chef-Boy-R-Dee out the can! Another couple came in & wanted a beer - sorry, we don’t serve beer/wine any more - - no further explanation given. Did they loose their bar license, because we have had wine in Michealangelo’s in the past. Over heard this couple ordering three different things before M’s “had it available.” Our waiter was completely unresponsive to us - - never ONCE checked on us to offer additional water & seem to take forever to get the bill to us. We quickly paid it without looking at it (with credit card) - only to find out we were either billed incorrectly or the prices on the menu were not reflective of what we were charge. No more Michelangelos for us for a while. The outside of the building appeared dirty - grass unkept, faded plastic flowers in the flower pots, lots of cigarettes in the sand trays by the door. Poor food, poor service & poor environment! Next time we want inexpensive Italian food, we will go to Fazoli’s (across the street) - & get FREE EXTRA garlic bread brought to you with a smile!
