Caldwell Municipal Courts

My husband was in one of the Caldwell neighborhoods for his job when he noticed a young boy across the street vomiting, apparently from heat exhaustion. He helped the boy by giving him water and driving him to his home. As the boy turned to go into his house he collapsed and fell into the bushes. The boy came to and after my husband offered to call for an ambulance the boy said he would be fine. My husband decides to call the police department just so someone will check the boy out and make sure he's ok. He waits outside until the office arrives and proceeds to tell the officer what he witnessed. Instead of turning his attention to this young boy, the officer asks my husband for his drivers license and calls it into dispatch to see if my husband has any outstanding warrants. I'm wondering if this is normal procedure. Aside from being offended at running in his driver's license, as a mother, I would be furious that this officer wasn't focused on the well being of my child. If a situation were ever to arise like this again, my suggestion to the officer(s) of the Caldwell Police Department would be to take care of the child first. Heat exhaustion is not to be taken lightly especially after someone so young has become faint from it.
