Overall
Great customer service

First time I delt with MCR and they helped me fix my camera for free by helping me with a incorrect setting that was causing me not to be able to photograph the clouds and sky because it was getting over exposed. Very fast email response about asking for a estimate for repair. They asked what settings I was using and i gave some examples of my problem by showing them some photos.

Thank you very much!

Forget them. Go somewhere else! I called and told them the foot on my Canon 580EXII was loose and needed to be tightened. They quoted me $75 + installation for a new shoe. I fixed it via Youtube video with a jeweler's screwdriver for nothing.

A second attempt to use them regarded a vintage lens with two missing screws. The lady took the lens to the back, a few minutes later she came out and told me the focus and the aperture were seized, and it would be $75. Since I knew how to focus the lens, I knew he was either lying or he didn't know what he was doing.

Dear Midwest-I just received my cameras yesterday afternoon, and so this morning I attached the lenses, fired them up, and oh boy, I AM SO HAPPY! You did a FANTASTIC job! I am going to copy this email and post it where I am able to leave reviews, because you deserve it! I will recommend you guys to everyone I know with a DSLR in need of repair or cleaning-thank you, thank you, thank you-and also thank you for being so quick to mail the cameras back as I am very close to busy wedding season...what wonderful customer service you have! I always try to do that in my own business, and I will tell you that it pays back in spades. Have a great summer of 2012!

We are so fortunate to have Midwest Camera Repair in Michigan. The service is great and the staff is very friendly and they are experts at what they do. I was just there again today . I have never had any problems with the repairs they have done and was always 100% satisified with them. I also like supporting them because they are a Michigan business. I also like the convenience of seeiing a live person when I take my equipment in . It is worth the drive. A happy and repeat customer. Thanks

It is unfortunate that Midwest...

It is unfortunate that Midwest Camera Repair is the only authorized Nikon dealer in Michigan- because i will never take my lens for repair there again. They have had my 50mm 1.4 for more than 6 months ! I'm a photojournalism student and this lens is vital to me.

Yes, there was the Japanese Tsunami that put parts on back order for a little while. But not 6 months. I've called them numerous times, to see if they had even looked at the lens after a month- which they had failed to, When the repair would be done- which they then put the parts on back order and said 'we'll let you know when they come in'- which they failed to. And lastly, when i called to asked where the hell is my lens its been there since February- they then said he could try to fix it today (it's August).

Clearly it has just been lying around their shop for some time now- they completely failed to contact me and and seem to be in no rush what so ever to get it done, until i bug them about it in which cause they said they will do it right now. ..who knows when i will actually receive it. I even had to buy a new cheaper 50mm lens just to get by, so that i could shoot.

They suffer from a lack of costumer service timeliness and communication that is just unacceptable. Also completely unapologetic.

The Earth quake and Tsunami caused 3 nuclear reactors to melt down an a 4th to be distorted, therefore they did not have the power in the region to run more then one shift a day. Also all the ports were damage and all parts and goods had to be trucked to other ports in the South causing an overload. So they are only sending one shipment per month of parts to the US. But the biggest issue was the flooding in Taiwan were their main parts manufacturing factory was underwater 10 feet for over 3 months, the factory and all the equipment was a total loss. All this can be checked online. That’s also why new equipment has been out of stock When we receive a shipment of back ordered parts we do not receive one at a time, we receive a large number because of only one shipment per month. So the repairs that require the back ordered parts are done in the order that the equipment was received. There would be no reason for us to delay anybodies repair as we do not receive payment from the customer until they pick up their equipment. And yes we still receiving parts we ordered 4 – 6 months ago. They are just now getting the new factories on line and getting caught up on parts orders. We are sorry for the delays but we have no control over manufactures parts issues.

Slide projector repairs

I went on line to find a place to have my Kodak Slide Projector repaired. I went to Kodak and they recommended Midwest Camera Repair Inc. in Wyandotte, MI. I contacted them and received a prompt response telling me the procedure for getting it repaired. I was very pleased with the way they handled the procedure and also with the repairs they made.
