Merchant & Main Grill & Bar

I have been going to Merchant & Main since they opened in the late 80s. I am a former native resident of the Vacaville/Fairfield area and have enjoyed M&M through the years and when my boss asked me to make lunch reservations somewhere between San Francisco and Sacramento I was quick to make lunch reservations at M&M.



The dishes at Merchant & Main have never disappointed me nor did the dishes disappoint the 6 of us for our lunch meeting.



But let’s start with the bread; the bread was warm and soft. Not too soft that when you spread the butter it would tear holes in your bread. Which we all can relate to. Plus the bread was good with or without butter!



Then we moved on to appetizers. We had the "World Famous" Breaded Calamari Strips and not chewy but tender and outstanding and the bread didn't make up 90% if the strips. We had M&M Bruschetta and all I can say is "WOW, these are good, are we in Vacaville". We had Chesapeake Crab Cakes. The Crab Cakes were off the chain. For those who are Slang Challenged, The Crab Cakes were Delicious! And not loaded with fillers.



As for our lunch dishes, we purposefully requested each dish available on the menu. We are a tight group of work mates and we are not shy to taste each others plates. Each dish was prepared and presented beyond our expectation. The taste of each dish wasn't hidden by too many shakes of the salt or pepper shaker. The meats were tender and were only accented with the right amount of herbs and spices. Let’s not forget the sauces! You can destroy a good meal with a bad sauce or hit a grand slam with a good meal with a great sauce. Let’s just say, the ball hasn't hit the ground yet!



Oh Desert! You should try all the deserts! Just forget about your diet and enjoy! Take a walk afterwards and feel justified in eating all of M&Ms wonderful deserts. Yes, we ordered all of them! MMMMMM good!



The decor of M&M is warm, inviting, snap casual but flexible for all. And I like the fact the bathrooms follow the interior design of the entire interior display. Not to mention fresh and clean!



The entire staff is friendly, professional, available for your every need. Do yourself and favor and take a long drive or short drive to Merchant & Main and by-pass all those chain restaurants and come enjoy a great meal, great service, at a very affordable price in a relaxing environment at Merchant & Main.

A Very nice lunch menu and very well prepared food. All present were happy with their meals, and the service was exellent. From appetizers to dessert, very well done indeed!

Recentlly I attended a business meeting with a group of peers and our boss. No waiting. We were seated immediately, I would say by a very friendly waiter. He passed out the menus and was informing us of the specials for the day. For me when I said to my peers that I could not read the menu because I had left my glasses in the car, the waiter did not miss a beat. He immediately starting reading the mouth watering delights that were on the luch menu. What a guy! He made my day when he started to read the menu for me. What unexpected service! Never have I visited a restaurant and the waiter was that helpful. Being a diabetic is not easy sometimes when you are experiencing blurred vision.



I ordered the grilled Halibut. No starches of course. It was encirceled by a bed of colorful mixed veggies just cooked to the right tenderness. The Halibut was smothered with various herbs and it tasted sooo good! The aroma would make anyone's mouth water. I know mine did. I probably would have stayed for seconds,but our time was limited. If you ever get the chance to visit Vacaville, Californina, I strongly suggest you take time and visit the Merchant & Main Grill & Bar. Ther you will find
