My 3 dogs love Amy and her staff. They do a great job at a reasonable price.

I brought my dog in for a nail trimming and the owner completely disregarded my warning about his long nail beds and caused him to bleed pretty severely. Instead of acting concerned (if even for my sake), she belittled me for my concern. I started telling her I didn't want her to do anymore which she ignored and instead decided he needed a muzzle because he was biting at her (meanwhile there is blood dripping all over her entry area waiting room because she didn't even take him in the back). The muzzle was so tight my dog's eyes were watering and slightly crushed, I tried again to tell her I changed my mind and yet she kept snipping. I expressed my concern for my dog being in pain, to which she said "dog's don't even feel it, you need to come in every 3 weeks and get it done. You should see the blood in the bathtub from a golden retriever I just clipped." After the clipping was done she put some kind of powder on his toes to stop the bleeding and charged me $10. I was in such a state of shock, I paid and left...I'm not an expert of dog behavior or grooming, so maybe the bleeding and muzzle are a normal thing ( at the groomer I usually use I drop off my dog); but I can't help but think her behavior towards me as a customer was completely unprofessional and I will never go back there again. I would not recommend based on my experience.
If a dog has long nail beds it is appropriate to get them gut every three weeks to shorten the nail beds. Additionally, when cutting a dogs nails if the quick is accidently cut, the dog, in fact, does not feel any pain. This client obviously and unfortunately does not know much about dogs, and does not take good care of their pet. It is unfortunate that they chose to bash Hair of the Dog.
