Cochrane Property Management

I found several apartments on their website that I was interested in. I paid the application fee online through paypal. I had not received a response in almost two weeks. They did not return phone calls or emails. I received a phone call only after I threatened to report them for fraud. Justin said I was approved for the apartment. He was pushy. He tried to get me to rent it over the phone without having seen it. He said he only goes to Lompoc once a week. I told him when I would be available to look at it and he agreed. When I called and emailed back to set up a time, he never returned my messages. I called and emailed two other people at his office, Alonso and Dee. Nobody returned my messages. I had another friend apply for the same apartment. He paid the application fee on paypal. He waited a week before contacting them and was told he was approved as well. He tried to make an appointment to see the property and was told to call back. Justin has not returned calls to either of us nor has anyone else at Cochrane. The apartment is still listed on their site for rent. I believe they are collecting multiple application fees on properties that may not even be available.

I happily moved into a clean unit at 175 kinman in Goleta. The unit was very well maintained and upgraded. I am very thankful for the quick response and quality care. Thank You Cochrane Mgmt.

Santa Barbara is not generally a place where you can be picky about which rental properties you would like to move into but if you can avoid moving into properties they manage.



I have had the misfortune of dealing with them twice and both times their response has been incompetent.



1) For the first apartment I lived at, the weather proofing on the door had come off. I complained to them twice about it but nobody would come, eventually because there was now a gap below the door I had a rodent infestation in the house. Even when I told them about this nobody came.



2) The second apartment, first off they put in a misleading advertisement on craiglist mentioning they the apt. had a dishwasher, covered parking and when we went to take a look the owner just told us they had put

that ad in error and that the apt didnt have either.

Secondly when we moved in, it still had the trash from when they cleaned up the apt which we had to throw away.

The laundry room was never clean and they even had a notice up there saying that keeping the laundry room clean was the residents respo

Finally the kitchen cabinetry had termite infestation which obviously they didnt fix when called.



All in all, this is one company I would very much like to avoid. If you are in Santa Barbara/Ventura area, go to the properties managed by Towbes group. Even if they are on the slightly expensive side they care about their residents and are responsive
