Belt Dermolipectomy is a circumferential body contouring procedure that removes excess skin from the entire body at the waist. Like arm lifts and thigh lifts, this procedure is most commonly performed in people that have significant loose hanging skin due to massive weight loss.

A labiaplasty is a safe, quick, effective procedure designed to treat redundant labia (the inner lips of the vagina). This problem can exist in women who have not had children but also can be exacerbated by childbirth. The redundant labia can cause pain with walking, bike riding, exercising, and sexual intercourse. Labiaplasty can reduce this redundancy relieving the symptoms symptoms and improving the appearance of the vagina. This procedure is an outpatient procedure done in our surgery center under local anesthesia with IV sedation.

Liposuction is designed to treat localized areas of fat on the body, face or neck that are out of proportion to the rest of the body, and is performed by liquefying the fat in the surgical area. This can be done using the "tumescent" or "super wet" technique, the ultrasound technique, or a combination of the two. Once the fat is broken down, a small suction tube called a "cannula" removes the fat.

Raised in the Pittsburgh area, Dr. McCafferty received his Bachelor of Science degree from Penn State University, his Medical Doctorate from Temple University and completed his internship and residency in General Surgery at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. His training in Plastic Surgery was at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Medical Center in Miami, Florida under the world-renowned plastic surgeon, D. Ralph Millard, Jr., MD. He is past President of the D. Ralph Millard, Jr., MD Plastic Surgery Society. Prior to his return to Pittsburgh, Dr. McCafferty was Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the University of Miami and Chief of Staff Services at the University of Miami Jackson Memorial Medical Center.

The congenital protruding ear is a source of great concern to the young person as well as the adult who has lived with his or her condition their entire life. Ear surgery, or "otoplasty," is designed to make the ear lie closer to the head.
Hysterectomy

Flávia Davit, M.D. is a plastic surgeon originally from Brazil where she received her Medical Degree from the Universidade Federal do Ceará in her hometown of Fortaleza. After medical school, Dr. Davit completed her Brazilian Plastic Surgery residency at the Hospital Universitário Walter Cantídio of the Universidade Federal do Ceará, and graduated in 2001. She went on to pass her written and oral board examinations in Plastic Surgery for the Brazilian Board of Plastic Surgery later the same year.

Abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is performed by making a horizontal incision just within or above the pubic area, but below the underwear line. The abdominal wall muscle and lax abdominal skin are tightened, and the excess skin and fat are "trimmed away" in the process. The length of the incision depends on how much excess skin and fat need to be removed. An abdominoplasty requires a small additional incision around the belly button.

Gynecomastia
Gynecomastia refers to enlarged breasts in a male that may be accompanied by oversized nipple and areola complexes. The condition is a source of embarrassment and occasionally causes discomfort. In the vast majority of cases there is no known cause. Only rarely is gynecomastia secondary to a medical condition or medications. An evaluation to include a pertinent history, physical, and laboratory examination by a board certified plastic surgeon is the prudent first step. The treatment goal is to restore a normal male chest contour. Options include liposuction, excision of the excess breast tissue, or a combination of the two. Regardless of the approach, incisions are small and typically placed within a portion of the areola or a natural crease along the chest wall. The procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and recovery time is approximately one week.
