Whispering Winds Resort

We've been going here for 10 years and we were thrilled when the new owners took over a few years ago. They are very friendly and have done a great job fixing up the place. The cabins are always clean and the beach is wonderful. We look forward to this vacation every year!

Absolutely love this place! Have been going for 13 years and we rent out the whole resort! Many new and great changes made over the last 4 years by the new owners! We love how clean, organized and family friendly it is! The owners may have rules in place but they are all reasonable and are made to show respect for their neighbors who are homeowners, not resort owners. They also ask that you respect their property as you are renting and in my mind that is a very reasonable request. They work very hard to update and maintain their investment. Visitors are allowed and have designated parking areas, you just can not put more than 6 in a cabin. I have recommended and will continue to recommend these great cottages to many friends!

We stayed in cabin 7 this past summer when my in-laws rented out the entire compound - which they have been doing for 10+ years (we don't go every year). We found the owners very helpful, accomodating, and layed back. They even shared their astronomy knowledge with us while gazing at the night sky. Our group had 7 teenagers so you know they weren't quiet and there were no issues. Yes the wi-fi reception was limited but it worked fine in the game room where they have a couple tables to sit at. We were told when we left that cabin 7 is getting a make over during the winter months.



This place can't be that bad if 80% of their business are repeat customers. An unhappy customer is much more likely to complain. You just can't please everyone.

We stayed in cabin 7, and it smells bad of mildew. The place is carpeted throughout and the carpet is old and very smelly. Other than that, the resort was very clean and the beach is nice. The owners, however, were not friendly at all. Our family rented every cabin (we have been renting here with the previous owners for at least 10 ye...ars) and were treated like we were bothersome. We were watched like children, and even told we were not able to play our personal music since he had a jukebox that he would be losing money on (mind you we rented 8 cabins, spent tons of money already in the game room and gift shop. He complained over 5 dollars in an old outdated jukebox). The resort also stated that it had "Wi-Fi". It does not. He has Wi Fi in his home, but we could not receive a signal on either our phones or our laptops (tried 10 i phone/droids and 3 laptops) even in the closest cabin to his house. In order to receive a signal you have to stand outside near his home, and it's still spotty at best. The game room has 6 games in it, 2 of which are broken down. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this to a friend, and we will need to find another place for our family reunions in the future.

I have traveled all over the country and stayed at numerous places and Whispering Winds was by far the worst vacation I have ever had!! The owners are new and live onsite and act more as wardens than hosts watching your every move. They are not friendly and have lists of "rules" posted all over the cabins and grounds. Such as no visitors, no digging holes on beach and no noise after 11pm, do not remove our furniture from our cabins etc... just ridiculous! We packed up early and left because our friends from down the street tried to visit us there and we were asked to leave.. my boys were very disappointed to say the least. Not to mention all the time and money wasted by taking off work, packing, driving and then finding another place to stay.We were referred by 2 friends who will also never return. Dont waste your money! There are several other great places to stay for the same amount of money or less.
