House of Refuge of Orange County

Ms.Ann and that light skinned lady she got cooking for the house ,,both are nothing but the devil daughters. the lady that lives there with the 2 plastic legs done hit me,and because she was in charge of cooking i got so sick one night after eating what she cooked. Somethings really not right but i tell you no lie it was funny to me how evil them women were smh. i dusted my feet off like the bible says to do after Ms.Ann called me names, boy was she mad. im so glad my mom came to rescue me from that . Praise Yah

Not a very good place. The house is very nice, the land is very nice and quite but beware. Appearances can be deceiving. The owner of the house, far from the bible as can get. Better describe as a sheep in wolves clothing. She hides behind the bible, but the devil. Some good she has done, but the bad overwhelms the good. It cost $500 a room, and will kick you out if you don't agree with her every word. She will use your disability against you, always a threat to kick you out. She will always throw in your face how uses her social security check to pay the bills, that she gets no funding. No funding is because the State took it away. She makes you go to her church or she will put you out. If you call 911 for any emergency she will put you out. The ladies in the home is not allowed to call 911 for any reason. She said to call her and she will handle it. She is 83, how is she going to handout and set such rules. I no longer live there, and watch all the people she put out and kept their money. She talks about everyone, if you're fat she will down grade you. I am fat and she told me I will never have a man looking like this. She talked about me really bad. She comes across as a nice lady at first but I agree with the other reviews, He'll is in wall here. Avoid this place, she will take your food card, use it for the boys house and herself. She us supposed to supply toilet paper, dish liquid, washing power, etc. Most time the house manager spends her own money and never reimburse. Otherwise we would not have toilet paper, she saids to use a rag. She criticized work out clothes and call you names. When you speak up for yourself she tell you to hit the road. I had to call 911 and for again it's get out.





The boys house is what is told to be a complete dump infested with roaches. She us self centered and really care only about herself and your $500.



Beware...find somewhere else, don't get trapped by the beauty of her home and talk of being a woman of God, or how she help so many. She probably has helped some, but thing do change. She threatens to send ladies to Lakeside, when I believe she may need to check in herself. Something is wrong with her, she is 83, possibly dementia.

The woman who runs House of Refuge, Anne Smith, is elderly. She doesn't mind getting herself face lifts but does not like to spend money on toiletries for the women such as toilet paper. When asking for toilet paper she tells you to get you a rag. She will throw you out on a whim and not return your money. She doesn't believe in a 12 step program of recovery because Jesus saves. But she lies and will cheat you out of your money. Her beautiful house is marred with cockroaches and the hell inside the walls. The mens house is a slum. You won't see pictures of that dump on her sight.

They find homosexuality to be a sin and try to change them to heterosexuals. The food is old and good food is scarce. The house although beautiful is infested with roaches in the kitchen, main bathroom and washer room. Meetings are called at random they could be 7am or7pm you never know. Each woman at the house shares her room with one other. The curfew is 8pm no matter what. Lights out at 9pm. You must report your daily activities to the owner ms. anne. Or the person she put in charge.
