Microabrasion is a mechanical process of using a mild abrasive and acid combination to gently polish the surface of your tooth affected by white spots. The procedure is like dental cleaning in that the polishing compound is applied using a rubber cup fitted to rotary drill with a low rotation while applying gentle pressure to the tooth surface. The combination of the special polishing compound and manual application allow for a gentle abrasion of your tooth enamel to remove white spots. This treatment is safe and minimally invasive. Any roughness felt on the tooth surface post-treatment is easily restored to a smooth surface by your saliva.
Despite numerous findings pointing toward the toxicity of mercury in fillings, the ADA still supports amalgam fillings, claiming that mercury levels are too low to cause harm. However, the FDA changed its stance in 2009, issuing a news release that warned against the use of amalgams for pregnant patients or those with sensitivity to mercury. They also warned dentists to use adequate ventilation when handling dental amalgam.
Resin Composite
By contrast, tooth colored fillings are bonded to your teeth and can be placed with minimal tooth preparation. What’s more, the composite resin used in white fillings is not impacted by temperature fluctuations and will remain in place, protecting both the underlying cavity and the integrity of your natural tooth for years to come.
Veneers
Cincinnati Lumineers®, like porcelain veneers, are thin, tooth-colored shells that can be placed over the front of your teeth to correct many common cosmetic dental problems. However, Lumineers® are actually thinner than some dental veneers, allowing them to restore the appearance of a tooth or teeth with little-to-no removal of natural tooth enamel.
Crowns
Dental inlays and onlays are dental restorations that can be used to protect and strengthen teeth impacted by decay. These bonded restorations are stronger than dental fillings and are often better suited for treating decay on back teeth. Because they do not require a significant amount of tooth enamel be removed for placement, inlays and onlays may also be used as a more conservative alternative to dental crowns.

Dr. Tara Hardin developed a passion for dentistry by watching her dad at a young age, and has since taken over the practice. Dr. Tara graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in 1996 and then received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2000 from The Ohio State University. She continued her pursuit of advanced training at The Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies earning a fellowship with LVI. Every person is unique and not everyone is blessed with strong teeth, some suffering more decay than others. When a tooth has become very decayed, it may be impossible to safely fill the cavity, as not enough natural tooth structure remains, creating a risk of cracking or breakage. A dental crown is then created to cover the tooth and restore its appearance and function. In many cases, patients that need a root canal require a crown to complete the restoration. How your crowns appear when complete is based in large part on the skill and artistry of your cosmetic dentist. The correct color and shape of the crown is exceptionally important, as it should perfectly blend with your natural teeth.
A smile just isn't a smile when teeth are missing. Gaps from missing teeth create a host of problems including difficulty speaking and eating, and jawbone deterioration – as well as embarrassment and self-esteem issues. Modern advances in dental technology make it possible to completely restore your smile, whether you have lost one or many teeth. At Hardin Advanced Dentistry, we create dentures and partial dentures that are affordable, lifelike and provide a higher level of comfort for the patient.
Overdentures
Overdentures: Some of your teeth may be healthy and you may not require a full set of new teeth. An overdenture can fit over the remaining healthy teeth.
Whether you're missing one tooth or several, dental implants can restore your mouth to a natural, healthy state. A dental implant mimics the tooth-root structure to maximize your ability to eat, chew, and speak with full confidence.
Most patients say the implant procedure was not nearly as bad as they expected. In fact, most will say the tooth extraction was harder to endure than the implant surgery. We at Hardin Advanced Dentistry also offer sedation for the anxious patient.
Many of our patients are self-conscious about their smiles because of gaps or misalignment issues. Oftentimes, our Cincinnati patients choose instant orthodontics to correct their teeth, because they don’t feel that their minor issues are worth the cost or time commitment of traditional orthodontics.
Invisalign Orthodontics
The Invisalign clear aligners are worn throughout the day and night to achieve straight, beautifully aligned teeth over a period of time.
Braces
White spots on your teeth are areas of demineralization of the tooth enamel, creating a weak spot on your tooth known as white spot lesions. White spots can occur due to a plaque overgrowth due to poor dental hygiene, or braces or other dental appliances that are glued in and hard to clean. Too much fluoride can also be a factor, especially in small children who tend to swallow toothpaste rather than spit it out, or if you are living in an area with heavily fluoridated water. Nutritional deficiencies, as well as poor, sugary, or overly acidic diets, or medications can lead to white spots. Some children develop white spots after a chronic childhood illness, which remain into adulthood.
