You get what you pay for... it's about half the price of better water park hotels like great wolf lodge and Boyne.
We booked online and added the monopoly game package, upon arriving we had to argue to get the game they wanted us to pay twice. After that we went up to our room to find it not only outdated (which I can handle) but unclean. We had a two room suite which was not vacuumed the beds were poorly made with black debris on some of the pillows and a large, what I hope was chocolate, brown smear on the comforter. The wallpaper was peeling off and there were quite a few stains and spills on the walls. There were wrappers still in the trash can and a glow stick in the fridge along with crumbs at the bottom. We requested a new room which they gave us and the new room was at least surface clean.
The water park (and reason we still stayed) is the perfect size for younger children. Ours are 7, 6, 1 and a newborn and the three big ones loved it. It is unfortunately not well maintained and certainly not up to safety standards as the pool area was fenced but not gated (no big deal I watch my kids) the hot tub we did not use, the pool my older kids talked me into taking a brief dip in at which point I realized it was about 70 degrees which may explain the murkyness.
Some things they don't tell you...
Breakfast is in fact down the street (close enough to walk) at a separate hotel.
If you book third party they will put you on the fourth floor which is above the water park with no elevator access.
The pool/water park is accessible by staying in the building unless you are handicapped in which case you will need to use the outdoor entrance.
The 'lake view' is an across the street view visible from the balcony only if you lean over
Very clean and comfortable, exceptional staff; well informed and courteous. Great SPA and Pool. First time I'd heard a train whistle in 30 yrs, I wanted to get up a take a look but fell asleep without a second thought.
The wife and I found the facilities - though the inside "water park" was of no interest to us - quite nice and we had a decent stay. The 10% discount at a local restaurant as an offer as part of the stay was nice, though the prices at restaurants in St. Ignace are high. It IS a tourist economy, however. I would be willing to stay there again, though I might explore other facilities there in the Choice Hotel chain, just to check them out and compare. The motel/hotel business in St. Ignace appears to be in a great state of flux right now...
