Swenson Orthodontics

I saw Swenson in October of 2013 for rather severe TMJ problems. I was recommended to him by a facial surgeon in American Fork due to a diagnosis of a severe bite and TMJ issues like clicking and popping in my jaw joint and grinding pains. He was okay at first and recommended I undergo Invisalign to fix the problem. I have had braces before by a general dentist, so I thought a specialist such as Swenson could really help the issue. IT JUST MADE THINGS WORSE!! I had perfectly straight teeth before meeting Swenson, but my bite pattern was off. The more I wore the Invisalign aligners the more uncomfortable they got and I started experiencing extreme root pain and I could not wear them anymore. He didn't seem to know what to do about this.



When my situation escalated he was CONVENIENTLY difficult to get a hold of! His secretary Janet is incompetent and evasive. They don't understand how painful and serious the issue is and they just blow me off when I just want to ask a couple questions directly to Swenson. I understand doctors are very busy but I felt like Janet just pushed my concerns off to the side. "I'LL GIVE HIM YOUR NOTE, HE'LL CALL YOU BACK" she told me NUMEROUS TIMES and they NEVER call me back about ANYTHING, they don't seem to really care about the issue, even though I paid 6 grand for treatment UP FRONT.



Also, like most orthodontists currently, he has a bunch of 18 year old blonde dental servants that are NOT QUALIFIED to do ANYTHING but take impressions and hand out suckers to kids.



They seem to care more about the trade aspect more than the etiological aspect. This guy hands out Invisalign like CANDY. I swear if you were diagnosed with colon cancer he would recommend Invisalign. I feel so frustrated at him because of this. Since getting Invisalign, I have been told by AT LEAST 3 other orthodontists that Invisalign IS NOT VERY EFFECTIVE. ESPECIALLY, for treating A SERIOUS TMJ PATIENT!! WHAT THE HECK SWENSON!!



He didn't even call me when I stopped showing up for appointments! Really? They are not even concerned about getting me the treatment I PAID IN FULL FOR?!



He is incompetent and does not seem qualified to handle serious cases. He is just another run-of-the-mill orthodontist who doesn't understand the damage he is causing to MANY children (let alone qualified for adults).



I recommend you check out Orthotropics by Dr John Mew and his son, Mike Mew on Youtube for some AMAZING information on how to treat your children that is far more effective than traditional orthodontics. Youtube the BIOBLOC appliance. Traditional orthodontics I have come to realize can be VERY damaging and Swenson endorses it FULLY with NO CARE or SENTIMENT to what potential damage he may be causing. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

We love Swenson Orthodontics! All 3 of our children have had braces here. We love the care Dr. Swenson has provided for our children. Our kids have beautiful smiles! We highly recommend Swenson Orthodontics.
