TCF Bank

My 20 yr old son started an account at TCF. He made a mistake on his checking balance, and unwittingly kept using his debit card for small purchases when he had no funds. All purchases were approved, but when he deposited his next paycheck, they withheld $250 in fees. There was no warning when he made the overdrafts - they evidently were happy to let him continue racking up the $35 a pop fees. He asked them whether they couldn't have just covered it with what he had in savings, and they told him they don't do that.

This kid is saving for college tuition and doesn't earn much at all - and it seems a shame that these are the people banks victimize.
