My first visits to the Florida Spine Institute in 2007 came after a whack chiropractor put me in the emergency room trying to heal my discs. Dr. Bouchlas is a consummate professional and immediately had a treatment plan to help with my pain. I could barely walk or get out of bed many days. After 3 epidural injections over a few months I was good as new. I did not experience any back pain for the next 10 years. Fast forward to today! I lost 80 lbs over a year and a half and injured my back again in the gym.I have had severe pain in my lower back for 7 months now and have received. 2 epidural injections and 4 facet joint injections to date. Dr. Buochlas is an expert in his field and I would not want to be treated by anyone else. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Causing pain in your palm, fingers, forearm and wrist, in addition to weakness, tingling, and numbness, carpal tunnel syndrome affects almost 30% of Americans. When tendons become inflamed due to overuse, they can put pressure on the median nerve, which runs through the carpal tunnel. The median nerve is responsible for controlling your thumb, and first three fingers, which is why people with carpal tunnel syndrome have difficulty picking objects up. Your doctor may recommend bracing, corticosteroid injections to reduce inflammation, and physical therapy; however, surgery may be considered if symptoms last longer than six months.

Nonsurgical treatments for low back pain include analgesic and anti-inflammatory medications; acupuncture; chiropractic manipulation; TENS (transcutaneous electric nerve stimulation); applications of cold or heat; ultrasound; stretching and strengthening exercises for back, abdominal, and leg muscles; and education in ways to prevent future injury. Patients should avoid bed rest and follow their exercise plan for safe return to activity as soon as possible.
MRI
While upper and middle back pain is less common, since the vertebrae in this area move much less than the ones in the lower back and neck, it still can be extremely uncomfortable. The first step in treating your pain is finding out the source of the problem. Your doctor will do this by asking about your current activity level and performing an exam; they may also order an MRI or X-ray in order to get a better picture of the area. These imaging tests will help diagnose problems such as a fracture or herniated disc.

Imaging studies (to show anatomic abnormalities) include plain x-rays or computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance (MR) imaging, and specialized studies such as discography. Electromyography (EMG), nerve conduction (NCV) studies, and evoked potential (EP) studies help to evaluate nerve function.

Your upper and middle back, also known as the thoracic spine, is made up of 12 vertebrae that attach to your rib cage, discs that sit between each vertebrae, and various ligaments and muscles holding your spine in place. Upper and middle back pain can be felt anywhere from the bottom of your ribs to the base of your neck. The anterior cruciate ligament, or ACL, is one of the ligaments that connect your femur to your shin. It can be damaged while playing sports or performing movements that require sudden directional changes.
