My husband and I love this local business!!!!

We live locally and we eat here at least two or three times a week. Great food and awesome service. They do quick takeout and cater to large parties. Sunday mornings are always a must for omelets. A must try for everyone. You wil come back again and again.

I'm glad I missed the last rev...

I'm glad I missed the last review, the place could use a painting but breakfast was great. A big fluffy omelet with avocado, chicken and cheese with banana pancakes for me, my partner had french toast, with a bunch of whip cream. I had the biscuits and gravy, the gravy was hot and tasty and the biscuits were light, I took one for later but it didn't reheat well that night. Overall I'd say it's a place worth stopping at.

Oh, I forgot to mention that the OJ was fresh squeezed

Keep Driving!

My wife and I were staying at an RV Park which is one block away. We read the rave reviews and we were totally disappointed. The Biscuits and Gravy were horrible. The biscuit was dry and flavorless. The gravy was out of a just add water package. My waffle was dried out like a frozen one. The scrambled eggs were in a pool of butter or grease. This was one of the worst breakfast's I have ever had. To top it off the place was really dirty!

Home cookin' at a good price!

I have lived in the Santa Ynez Valley for some 12 years, and we often go to Mother Hubbards in Buellton. Why? Because besides being a warm and welcoming place, even the soups are homemade, as are their biscuits, gravies--actually everything I've ever tried there. Breakfasts are amazing and served any time; their homemade corned beef hash with an egg on top is one of my favorites. They'll even take "adjustments" to menu items. There are some desserts to die for, too. Try the hot apple strudel, or other yummy creations, so be sure to ask what's available. I think the economy's slump has definitely trickled down to the grass roots, and I've noticed shorter-staffing everywhere!! At least the service at Mother Hubbards is consistently good and cheerful. I enjoy their monthly email newsletter, which alerts you to specials and new dishes, plus newsy tidbits. Today is my birthday, and I had put my name on their birthday list. Wow! I got an email for a free dinner! I highly recommend this family-owned, cozy restaurant. Mother Hubbards is right across the street from the huge and bustling Pea Soup Anderson's, which is just average good diner type fare. They have a large and exciting gift shop that is worth visiting, but their terrific pea soup can be bought there in cans, so no need to eat there. I'm reminded of an old adage for travelers that fits Mother Hubbards: "If the locals eat there, that's where the good food is." Need I say more?

Great Breakfast

Got to say, this little hole in the wall place puts out a great breakfast. My wife and I were traveling to San Diego and got off in Buellton for breakfast. We saw this place across the street from where we were going and decided to try it. It was mid-week but it was fairly busy which we took as a good sign figuring it would be mostly local residents there. Service was friendly and quick and our omletes were both perfectly cooked. If you're not on a diet, order the biscuits and gravy, I managed to sneak a bite while my wife wasn't looking. If you're gong there, stay to the right; I wouldn't recommend walking across the street like we did, it's wide and was pretty busy

Yummie

A great breakfast for me and the kidlets which I didn't have to cook. Lots of food at a good price, and crayons for the kids so my hubbie and I had some peace and quiet after a long drive. Special thanks to the waitress who took a bit of time with our children who were tired and a little cranky.

General Info
Established in 1978, Mother Hubbard's has been serving local customers and travelers ever since. Located on Avenue of the Flags, in the center of town, we’ve seen the ever changing landscape of the area; but throughout the years our commitment to serving the best home made foods has never changed. From farm fresh produce and eggs, to hand cut chops and steaks, we’re committed to bringing our customers the highest quality meals in the area. As a supporter of local charities and organizations, we’re as committed to our community as we are our family of customers. We’ve been starting our mornings for over 30 years with home made buttermilk biscuits ready to be paired with sausage gravy made the old fashioned way. The sizzle of bacon on the grill, the whirring sound of the blender preparing the eggs for our extra fluffy breakfast omelets and the sounds of conversations, not a TV (we won’t put one in) recalls the feel of an earlier year. Lunch at Mother Hubbard's starts at 11, though sometimes you can sneak it in a bit earlier, with many offerings from home made soups to and salads. Over the years our lunch offerings have changed, though we still hold true to our beginnings with items such as in-house hand ground burgers and a good old fashioned grilled ham and cheese. New sandwiches such as the Santa Barbara Chicken and the Monterey appeal to those looking for something a bit lighter. Of course we never stop changing and now our simple burgers have become flame grilled burgers with multiple toppings and served with a home made spicy ketchup, grilled onions have been replaced with caramelized ones, and the accompaniments are mainly from local organic farmers. Your regular burger an even be replaced with a portabello mushroom. As for the daily lunch special, except on Friday’s when it’s always fish and chips; it's ever changing. You never know what it’ll be from chili dogs and chips to prime rib sandwiches, but you do know it’ll be served something fresh and delicious. Dinner at 5 PM is a mix of the foods you grew up eating, fried chicken, fish & chips, or home made meatloaf, and newer items that reflect our use of local ingredients and the feel of the Central Coast, including Chardonnay Shrimp, grilled sustainable Ahi, and chops with our homemade Blackberry BBQ Sauce We also offer an assortment of breakfast and lunch entree's as well At Mother Hubbard’s we live by our philosophy, meals like mom used to make and then some, and the knowledge that you work too hard to spend your money for something you don’t like, so if it isn’t right, tell us and we’ll fix it, no questions asked.
