We have two outpatient respiratory facilities that are staffed by a highly qualified team of experts that are focused on you. Black Lung & Respiratory Health Clinic If you have a chronic lung disease, the black lung & respiratory health clinic may be able to help you. Originally formed as the black lung clinic to treat coal miners, the clinic also treats those who have ongoing breathing problems due to work-related exposure to materials such as pottery dust, asbestos or other chemicals and substances that can cause lung problems. Anyone with a breathing problem can be treated in the clinic. Pulmonary Rehabilitation More than 30 million people in the United States are affected by chronic lung disease. Problems breathing can be a frightening experience. Our pulmonary rehabilitation program can lessen the effects of chronic lung disease and improve the quality of your life. Check with your doctor to see if you are a candidate for pulmonary rehabilitation. Any adult with stable, chronic lung disease may be considered for the pulmonary rehab program at Genesis. This includes those with: Emphysema Asthma Black lung Pulmonary fibrosis Chronic bronchitis Bronchiectasis Alpha 1 (Antitrypsin Deficiency) Other chronic respiratory disorders

Clinic Services You can receive screenings, diagnosis, education, rehabilitation, treatment and exercise programs at the clinic. Tests for black lung claims, paid for by the Department of Labor, are also available at the clinic along with help filing claims and completing paperwork. Meet Our Rehabilitation Team While in the program, you receive education on chronic lung disease from experts in respiratory therapy, physical therapy, pharmacy, nutrition services, social services and occupational therapy. The educational sessions last about an hour per week. Rehabilitation Exercise Sessions You will have exercise sessions three times a week for about an hour.
