Department of Parks and Recreation provides various leisure services to the residents and is located in Yonkers, N.Y. The department has various divisions, such as administrative services, recreational programs, park maintenance, youth services and animal control. It has more than 500 staff members that plan, coordinate and implement various parks and recreational programs. It organizes a range of programs that include karate, theater, Latin dance, baton and cheerleading, acoustic guitar, kid kardio exercise, strength training, oil painting, yoga classes and lifeguard training. The department is operated by the city of Yonkers that also operates other departments, including civil service, consumer protection, economic development, human rights, public works, real estate and traffic engineering.
