Framing
Our pole barn definition: A building where laminated (multi-ply) wood columns are the main vertical framing element and are connected with wood sidewall girts. The roof framing system includes wood trusses connected with wood purlins, which is a unique system specific to pole barns, or post-frame buildings.
Wick Buildings Inc. offers two warranties depending on whether a Wick-employed crew builds your building (Wick Construction Services Warranty) or a local Builder’s crew builds your building (Building Packages Warranty). Wick Buildings provides crews only within certain geographical areas. Contact your local Wick Builder to learn more. Wick Construction Services Warranty Building Packages Warranty
The physical location of your pole barn home can impact utilities, landscaping, aesthetic choices, and more—all of which will affect overall costs.
Driveways
And don’t forget about access. Will your pole barn home be on an existing residential plot with access already in place? If not, that means additional costs for grading in a driveway.
Excavation
Post-frame systems in barndominiums can be designed to accommodate varying soil wall pressures, either from within or from the exterior of the building wall. This can be accomplished without the extensive excavation costs and expensive concrete foundation system needed for stud walls in stick-frames.
Horse barn access doors typically run from 10 to 14 feet in height, though they could be higher if also used for equipment access. Doors may be 8 feet wide or more. Split-sliders could be as much as 16 feet wide. There are also smaller Dutch doors used for exterior access to individual stalls. The type of horse barn doors you choose depends primarily on its function.
Decks
Unlike conventional stick-frame houses, pole barn homes are built with post-frame construction, which doesn’t require load-bearing interior walls. That can create amazing options for your interiors in addition to exterior decks, patios, and porch areas.Â
