Not sure what the other reviewers are talking about but we have had our daughter enrolled in this school for 3 years now and have not once had a problem. We have seen the same teachers there for years, have always been welcomed with a smile and have been amazed at the level of service provided to us. Let me do a quick rundown of this school:
-Secured doors. (Many day cares in the area didn't even have this!)
-Incredible Pre-K classes that actually prepare your child for Kindergarten.
-Extracurricular activities and Field trips
-They maintain consistent contact and let you know what was going on with your child.
-Tolerant to children with nut-allergies
-The playground is right next to the school with its own entrance (most other daycares in the area did NOT have this and most needed to cross a busy parking lot/street with a rope. NOT APPLETREE! Thank heavens!)
-Amazing progress and child development. We truly are blessed to have the Apple Tree Community in our family's life! Myles

My twin baby boys have been at the Appletree since October, 2014. I find the staff warm and loving. They take excellent care of the boys and they always tell me how the day went with the boys. The infant room is large so the babies have room to crawl around and there is plenty of space for playing, eating, sleeping and changing. I have two older kids and have seen several centers. I feel lucky to have found the Appletree for the care of my twin boys.

Love it!

This is a wonderful, clean and friendly Pre-School. I am appalled at the previous reviews because the information is incorrect. The new Director took over last year, not this year and had implemented more great programs for the children. My son and daughter can't stop talking about all the new toys the new Director purchased. Everyone is friendly and happy and the class sizes just show how much parents love this school. I would check it out for yourself. Family operated, caring and loving staff!

Great school. The staff and director really cars about the children and parents needs. I always feel good about leaving my children in the care of the center and it's staff. Classes have more than one teacher to focus on working on small groups. They cater to working parents as they rarely close. Convenient parking for NYC commuters. Love this place! Check it out. Ask for The Director Miss Vera. The school and it's great programs were just featured in Main Street magazine!

My children attended this center for several years and unfortunately the care has been strained with crowded classrooms and stressed out staff. I have heard the Pre-K teachers yelling at their kids while lined up in the hallway waiting to use the bathroom. This usually happened at my daily drop off time and I saw it over and over again. The center's Director is stringent with money. If you are 5 or 10 minutes late you will receive a bill. There is absolutely no flexibility when it comes to money. You have to pay $30 cot fee for your child to sleep in the toddler room. Fundraisers will often require that you write the check payable to "Cash" instead of Apple Tree or the vendor. Basically this renders the money not taxable to the center, and they do not have to report it as income. Therefore, it is not tracked and can really be used on anything. I always thought this was a little shady. Other than this, the academics are comparable to other centers. Some teachers are very nice.

The previous review was written by the director's husband, M Stern.

My child attended for 3 years. The best part was the family-feel and warm atmosphere with happy staff and lots of flexibility. This Fall, a change in the Director led to turnover with staff and administrators leaving. The Programming is still very good. The teachers have their hearts in the right place but they seem stressed by the new environment and overcrowded classrooms. Teachers often have to buy their own supplies for projects, which is sad because they don’t earn a lot. Worth visiting and checking out. Take a look at the roster outside of the door to see how many kids are in the class.

The Apple Tree Child Development Center is a wonderful place for your child to play, make friends and receive a great educational foundation. Our son has been a student at the school since he was two. Our child is now he is five and still loves every moment of school. He has formed close bonds with the students and teachers and the teachers treat our son as if he were family. We value that aspect of the school most and we know that he is safe and very well cared for. The school is also very flexible and they are very willing to work around busy, rotating schedules and they understand that not every parent works a Monday through Friday 9-5 shift. When we originally sent our son to school at the Apple Tree, he was shy, introverted and didn't speak a great deal. That most certainly changed! He is excelling at not only the basics such as the alphabet and numbers but also comes home speaking Spanish, doing yoga and shows us the baked goods that he and his classmates created
