Dental Bonding

Root Canal Treatment
Root canal treatment is a painless procedure that is sometimes necessary to save your tooth from extraction. Root canal treatment is necessary when the pulp (artery, nerve, vein, and connective tissue) becomes inflamed or diseased. During a root canal, this diseased tissue is removed from your pulp chamber and pulp canal inside your tooth. This is what keeps your tooth alive. If this is not done, bacteria will replace the vital pulpal tissue and eventually move out of the tooth into the bone and facial tissues, and cause the tooth to abscess. The pulpal chamber and root canal of the tooth are cleaned and sealed with a rubber type material called gutta percha, so bacteria can’t live and grow inside the tooth. This is a highly successful treatment to save many teeth. If the infective pulp is not removed, significant pain and facial swelling can result. The option to this treatment is usually an undesirable extraction if an abscessed tooth is not treated with root canal treatment.

Dentures
A full denture implant is an appliance worn by the patient to replace all missing teeth. A partial denture is used to replace some missing teeth. Implants with dentures or elimination of dentures with implants are a newer exciting area of dentistry. Many different types of treatment plans can be developed to help our denture-wearing patients who want better. Your treatment plan options can be many, so it is critical you choose a competent doctor. With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Jaksa has the education, clinical experience and skills to handle the most difficult full mouth reconstruction.

Dental Implants
Dental implants are a very exciting area in dentistry, and competency and expertise in treatment planning is critical. Dental implants are titanium-coated devices placed in the bone that can then have restorative dentistry placed over them. Tooth implant treatment planning can be difficult and complex in nature. Implants can be used to replace anywhere from one missing tooth to all missing teeth. Treatment plan options for these tooth implants are nearly endless, as every mouth calls for a unique approach.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Oral Surgery
Adults with poor skeletal patterns are more difficult to treat. Orthodontics and Oral surgery can be utilized to change skeletal patterns and correct the apnea patient. This can be the optimally ideal treatment plan for more severe apnea patients.
Maxillofacial Surgery
Dental surgery performed by Dr. Jaksa includes extractions of erupted and impacted teeth and other simple surgery procedures. More involved procedures like complex extractions or oral maxillofacial surgery needing a referral will be given to one of the area’s most competent oral surgeons. Dr. Jaksa, Dr. Andreasen and Dr. Kent are involved in many cases that are multidisciplinary requiring team work. Both Dr. Andreasen and Dr. Kent are committed to excellence and very experienced in providing the surgical needs required by Dr. Jaksa for his patients. The doctors study together and meet or talk frequently to discuss patient treatment plans. This is not common in our profession and our patients benefit immensely from doctor communication.

Orthodontics
TMJ treatment involves joint health assessment (TMJ exam) and appropriate treatment related to diagnosis. MRIs are used in some cases to find the extent of joint damage. Dental splints are used to establish the “perfect bite” to assess joint health and stability. Splints are assessed monthly to establish if the patient is pain free with a stable non-changing bite. Medications are used in some cases to reduce inflammation and reduce muscle activity. Other treatments involve restoring the bite to ideal function. This treatment could potentially include orthodontics, skeletal surgery, or TMJ surgery. If orthodontics or TMJ surgery is necessary, Dr. Jaksa works with a team of specialists that are among the best in the dental community.
Invisalign Orthodontics
Instant orthodontics is a new term used to describe the process of using cosmetic dentistry to correct malaligned or missing teeth instead of traditional orthodontics. It involves restoring teeth with porcelain to reposition teeth to correct position and esthetics instead of moving teeth orthodontically. The cases below are great examples. This procedure can be used with gapped teeth and slightly crowded teeth. If we have poorly positioned beautiful teeth, traditional orthodontics with braces or invisalign is still usually the preferred treatment plan. This can be an excellent treatment plan for teeth esthetically unpleasing, such as worn teeth. A general rule might be if the teeth are nice, move the teeth. If the teeth are in poor shape, attempt to develop a non orthodontic treatment plan.
Braces
